Seriously though, increasing breathiness and practicing top-down that way, untied the big knot in my voice that was caused by overcompression- which no voice teacher could figure out how to fix. Kind of thought that was the answer, but was afraid it would lead to a breathy speaking voice and hyperventilation. Well, it doesn't- what was behind those symptoms turned out to be mildew, not technique.

Thank you! Breathy voice seemed to be a matter of luck for me, some days I have it and others I struggle. Now this video has made me more consistent and conscious when singing with an airy tone (which I really like doing in my songs). Knowing that it's not a matter of pushing more air helped me a lot!

I have to admit, this technique is one I have problems with. Not because it is so hard but because it gets overused by so many singers.
