I finally did it; I finished the entire VLttW playlist! I made extensive notes on all 112 episodes (it’s a 40 page word document) and categorized the lessons based on the categories of anatomical, vocal registers, vocal techniques, breathing, vowels/consonances, singer’s advice, and stylistic episodes. I’m willing to share my notes if anyone wants them and has any ideas on how I can do that most efficiently. I’ll tell you guys, I discovered this series at the tail end of 2019, looking for some resources to improve my own singing and to help my voice student improve more (I’m mostly a piano teacher), and these lessons have helped us tremendously! I’m looking forward to adding on to this list, practicing through all the exercises, and sharing what I’ve learned with others. I love starting a new year with a new source of inspiration! Thanks guys!

Thank you so much Justin, for everything that you do! You are hands-down the best vocal coach on KZbin -- your incredible ability to demonstrate the effect of every tool in the voice makes things so clear and easy to understand. This video was really great in re-framing my view on how to approach learning to sing. I'm still early in my journey, but I was definitely starting to lean towards "serving vocal technique", so the timing couldn't have been better! As I am learning to sing using KZbin, there are a lot of sources out there that use all kinds of different vocal terminologies, and you've been crucial for me to get a real grasp on what all of these words that people use actually mean. One example of this that I still don't quite understand yet is " Get 'on top' of the pitch ", and " That's too 'heavy' ", which Natalie Weiss seems to use a lot in her teaching. Perhaps you would be able and willing to shed some light on these abstract terms or ideas?

This is one of the really good ones! When starting out exploring vocal technique, it's very good to have a kind of "summary" like this to get some overview on what to explore and what to practice I think. As a note on Joy and Passion, I'm actually at the moment feeling more drawn to exploring vocal technique than to work on my songs. Not that I don't enjoy singing my songs and I'm still pretty sure that is my long-term passion but at the moment I'm allowing myself to follow my curiosity and explore what my voice can do and figure out how it works. So for me, right now, it's not the "going to the gym" feeling. I guess it's like coming to the gym for the first time and wanting to try out all the gym equipment and exercises maybe :) And like that, I probably won't be this passionately amazed by vocal technique forever, some day it's going to feel like hard ground-laying work I guess, but for now it's pure passion! Love what you are doing with this channel, merry christmas and happy new year to Justin and everyone else att NY Vocal Coaching!

@NewYorkVocalCoaching4 жыл бұрын
Our voices change from day to day. There are so many factors involved! Sleep, hydration, food, stress, etc. Sounds like your voice was in nice shape, warmed up, and ready for the agility that "Halo" requires. Send your question in to Questions@VoiceLessonsToTheWorld.com and we'll put this on the list for future episodes of the show! -NYVC

Also, sometimes what limits us is our mind and not our body. We learn to do things a certain way. When we spontaneously sing, sometimes bypass this and our body just naturally does what it needs to do. My choir director in high school used this with his altos who had trouble singing higher parts with volume. They were so stuck on mentally having the right technique that they struggled in class. But when they just sang for fun, they wound up hitting those notes with power without even realizing it.

I download a vocal pitch analyzer, I tried a c#5 note perfectly and fully but my app says its only c4, why its that? Is vocal pitch different to vocal range?

You have a Titanic voice. I'm hoping you can answer a question for me before I've Departed for the night. Catch Me If You Can here....Vocal compression - does this mean the vocal folds themselves are compressed (held together firmly) or does it refer to the column of air in the lungs is being compressed by holding it back with the false folds? It's hard to get a straight answer about this and I'm beginning to think everything on the internet is a Body of Lies...

Hi Justin! Compression means the vocal folds are pressed together. And air beneath the cords, when the cords are compressed, is subglottic pressure. For Justin's answer to this with more detail you can join his KZbin live chat! More info in our Community Tab! -NYVC

Hmm...I heard there's a young singer who has best vocal technique with unbelievable range, 7 octaves, but not about ranges, it's just that people says he has the best vocal technique... Maybe you want to check it..

Hello coach! I just like to ask if will you recommend learning classical singing first before exploring other genres like rnb and pop? I've ask this because i have notice that classical singing is a good foundation to have because of it's techniques and disiplines. hoping that you can response with me soon. i've always watch your awesome vocal tutorials😄❤️
