Grew up on the Oregon Coast. Took my kids to Newport a lot. Had to chase some kids who thought it was fun to throw dirt clods down on the tourist at Yaquina Lighthouse. Never had a problem with them after that 89'. Grew up in Reedsport and went to school there, so did my kids till 92. My father worked for Salmon Harbor in Winchester Bay, what you called Umpqua Dunes used to be free to park and camp out on the 2nd and 3rd beach. Can't tell you how many times I walked the 3 miles from the highway to the beach through the dunes and swam in the the various small ponds. My sisters finished their schooling in Coos Bay and North Bend. Horsefall beach is one you shouldn't miss either. Glad you went. Happy travels. Mike

@@GrandAdventure That's the hardest part of having dogs, they just don't last long enough. I've had dogs my whole life. Our Zoe, spelled the same as yours, was an exceptionally fun Boxer Dog. Boxer's only go about 7-9 years, it's a heart break when we lose them but such a joy for the short time they bless us with their lives.

Try to visit the town of Lincoln. It is famous for the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid, Capitan birthplace and burial of Smokey Bear. There is a good BLM campsites between the two towns right of of US-380. Ruidoso has a Walmart in case you need to resupply. Just some ideas and I’m sure research ed all this already. Enjoy your trip and looking forward to future video’s.

Appreciate the tips, Jim! We'll be passing through on Sunday en route to Cloudcroft, but it'll be our second big drive day in a row and we'll be anxious to get that weekend of driving finished. On the return trip, however, we have a stop planned in Roswell, so we'll be keeping Lincoln in mind.

cool traveling video 👍 Would love to go to Oregon some time, its on my bucket list. Jealous you made it to Bend, Mt Bachelor is there ⛷ I presume that must of been Maggie in the video.
@GrandAdventure5 жыл бұрын
Indeed, Eric -- that is Maggie, some of the footage used in this episode was from 2016, 2017 and 2018. Bend is a sweet little town, and there are at least three different shots of Mt. Bachelor in this video that I can think of. It's been a few years but I last skied it in 2012 on a press trip co-sponsored by the Bend Chamber and the ski area, and it's a fun hill. There's nothing steep enough to give most folks pause, but the idea of skiing 360 degrees of the summit cone, working whatever aspect is best for sun and wind, is truly special.

Great video of the great state of Oregon. But way too much, way too loud music! Completely distracts from the video. Get more surf sounds and sea bird sounds.
@GrandAdventure5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, Larry. Without the music, though, you'd be treated to long periods of silence (the drone shots don't record audio), wind noise, trucks driving past behind the camera, jackhammers, and all kinds of stuff you wouldn't expect. You can't always shoot in a quiet, pristine environment, but you can make it look like you did. 😉
