I love that WHC named their "Bond" yeast after WLP's "007" :-)

lol, hadn’t made that connection … I’m a bit slow sometimes!

Ive got a pack of bond as well ready for my first brew going on 6 years now! How similar is it to s04 alot have said more like WLP im hoping as i hated s04 cheers!
@FourPriestsBrewery9 ай бұрын
I can’t tell the difference between Bond and S-04. More sensitive palates might. It ferments out pretty fast, especially if you use the warm end of the range ( I don’t. 18C here) and drops like a stone once it’s finished. Predictable attenuation. Just does its job and leaves.

@@FourPriestsBrewery Thanks for the quick reply, have you used this in any ipas or pales then? I hated the esters from s04 and i did high and low temps with it was just apple flavours

It’s in the stout and bitter only. Murgy uses US-05 or WHC LAX, as does Locky APA

Spade connectors: hate ‘em… you get a tiny bit of corrosion: resistance goes up, temperature rises and you get more corrosion. Next thing you know, it’s got hot enough to melt your relay. My advice is to solder the connections.

Yet another top video Andy! I just love to see you thinking on your feet

It might be worthwhile changing the controller to craftbeerpi. That way you can remote in and see if every thing is operating as it should before even leaving your bed.
@FourPriestsBrewery9 ай бұрын
Yeah, would be simple to add something. Ideally turning it on or off remotely like I can with the coolers. Need some float switches in the HLT because I just know I’ll dry fire the element at some point once I get remote control. And a motorised valve to fill it. That would be nice.

What a day! Good to know it's not just us havimg days like this... Last time we did a stout it was all over the place. Great composure sir! You would see me shouting and swearing all day probably 😅😅

@@FourPriestsBrewery 🤣 maybe you need to put that in a special patreon edition 🤣

I do have a Patreon but I never got round to talking about it. Might think about it again soon, with the expansion next door.

Glad to see another vlog but understand how busy you are. I remember Harrybrew69 doing a video on his rotating sparge arm. He used a John Guest straight coupler & removed one of the rubber 'O' rings to allow it to spin.

Shit! Thats a great idea! Doing it.

M8 that was a challenging weekend. You may have lost your brewing super power losing the whiskers ( I’m worried now mines really short 😳) great update as usual cheers 👍🍻

I would have been tempted to use the burnt out double pole as a single pole since only one side looked burnt out, but that’s why I tell people not to copy my electrics 😂 ⚡️ thanks for sharing hard days as well as the easy, it makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one that has troublesome brewdays. Cheers 🍻

There was more chaos but the video would have been too long.
@davidnash43939 ай бұрын
That occured to me too but would you trust it?
@FourPriestsBrewery9 ай бұрын
My thoughts too. I didn’t know if the poles are mechanically linked. So if one’s burned out and jammed, the other one is stuck too? Might pull it apart for a look. Its in the bin currently

Must be difficult having problems with a brewery when youve only got yourself as back up. Be proud of what youre doing Andy...hopefully youll have time to wash ya car one day😂, cheers pal

It never Rains but it Pours!, at least you have the parts on hand so you can Zig or Zag if need be, I'd love to get one of those fermenters of your's full of unhopped wort for my still, that would make One nice Single malt bastardized drop of spirit. I bet you are chomping on the bit waiting for next door to get out so you can expand a swing a cat a round. Great vid mate. Cheers from Aussie .
Hopefully get an order done soon, id like to try a Murgy, Locky, Stout combo pack...💪

Never a dull moment in your brewery Andy. How's your blood pressure? I use a watering can and rose for my sparge🤣. Not exactly practical on your scale!
@FourPriestsBrewery9 ай бұрын
if a watering can was what it came to, I’d have done that

That looks like its been a loose connection on the terminal Andy, or the contact in the relay has been arcing

Good evening, not sure if i have missed on previous sessions, but do you add additions or prepare the water before brewing ?
@FourPriestsBrewery9 ай бұрын
yes, not shown but there was gypsum and epsom salt added. Water round here is super soft.

I would bang all the malts in and bump up the ph of the mash with baking soda personally this gets rid of the bitterness you get from the roasts and alot of good coffee makers do the same. But im water chemistry mad fyi..
