The boat build is in full swing....and I am still worried about sponsors though. I have sent one of my fans off to Dusseldorf Boat Show to create some opportunities, so let's see what happens.
The Odisea 48 from Odisea Catamarans has just started to get built in Vietnam. The design is complete, the paperwork has been done and now the factory has had 4 days to start the job and they are welding like madmen. Finally the wait is over, the Elcano World Challenge will begin in 2024 people.

I predicted 6 weeks, however I didn't realise they were building two boats. I think it's been about 6 weeks now. Those guys are amazing!

Best system I've seen they made a concrete mould in the ground welded big aluminium plates together put the angular hull shell in the concrete form filled the shell with water and set off a explosive charge = instant beautifully curved hull shell to be welded to the ribs & stringers!😮

Slot welds or plug welds..... pretty much the same thing. The shell plates can be welded to the keel plate through slots where you can't weld from the inside. Very strong.
