Thanks Tommie. With treasury bills, one can enjoy a higher true yield because of the upfront payment of interest which can be re-invested.
@Tomiebalogun.5 жыл бұрын
Well, you have a point there
@ngozijoe22434 жыл бұрын
But they don't pay the interest up front. They pay it at the end of the tenor and still take a very small percentage for processing it. Or is it just my bank?
@Tomiebalogun.4 жыл бұрын
@@ngozijoe2243 They are supposed to pay the interest upfront. My bank pays the interest upfront, unless I specifically request for it to be paid at the end of the tenor
@betinansi2014 жыл бұрын
@@ngozijoe2243 they are sold at a discounted price eg if you are investing 100,000 they may take 93000 only from your account and not the full 100,000 depending on the rates.At the end of the tenure they will refund the full 100,000.So yes you do get it upfront. Check again .

As someone that has done both, I don't agree completely lol. because it actually looks like you prefer mutual funds. Many mutual funds rarely give interest over the prevailing govt bond. The only part I love about Mutual fund is the liquidity. You can ask for your money within a week unlike treasury bills because they already gave you the interest, you cant just collect your money back.
@Tomiebalogun.5 жыл бұрын
Lol..it is interesting you say that. I tried to be as objective as possible. My focus was to get those who cant afford to invest in Treasury bills or bonds directly, because of the minimum investment required, to think differently and see options with mutual funds..and you can actually liquidate a treasury bill before the tenor is complete. I think it depends on the institution because I do it..Lol

Thanks for the insight, but you didn't talk about the Risk factor of both investments. which is the first thing potential investors should consider.
@Tomiebalogun.5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. I have episodes on my channel where I speak about each option in more detail on my channel. I share the risk factors of both options in those episodes.

I am new here...what banks offer the opportunity for mutual funds and treasure bills?
@emekaonwuka59065 ай бұрын
For a high initial capital like .5m, which will you suggest?
@Tomiebalogun.5 ай бұрын
Hello. That’s a great question. It depends on your goals and what the current ROI on each option is. The best thing to do is to reach out to your financial provider to ask for the current rates on each option and compare which works best for you. I hope this helps.

Hey Tomi, So from watching your video, I am thinking of doing both. Like I have to app options for Treasury Bills and Mutual Funds. Is there any problem with doing that? Anything to note?
@Tomiebalogun.5 жыл бұрын
Hey Dorcas. No, There's no problem if you choose to invest in both options. It is perfectly ok to have both options in your investment portfolio
