I was very recently on a ventilator for 5 days in the icu and woke up on ICU for 2 additional days. The nurses were amazing to me.

I’ve been in the neuro ICU for 6 months now and it’s been so difficult taking care of patients that should be on comfort care but are full code. I know that sounds terrible but seeing patients who are brain dead and all we are doing is just keeping their body alive has taken an emotional toll on me.

I thought the CCU/ICU would be a good fit for me, but it's incredibly challenging. People assume it's easy because "you only have one or two patients," but they're mistaken. Working in these intense units means your senses need to be heightened for over 12 hours a shift, always in overdrive, not to mention the meticulous documentation required. It's quite literally a game of chess against the patient's illness throughout the shift..

That’s true. The nurses that say ICU is easy have most likely been doing it for years. That being said I don’t think any unit is easy at all. It’s just how you adapt and the type of person you are. Different nurses fit different units and that perfect

Great episode boys. I finish nursing school Aug 21 in New York City, then probably the NCLEX around October 1st…..then into an ICU. I’m already an LPN with vent experience, so I’m excited to get going!
