I sell on Maker's Place. They do not pay timely. There is limitations to listing especially if you have variations. But they are actively working on improvements. What I love is that it is all homemade stuff.

I sell on the supply side because you can’t sell on both and I agree with that although it’s better than some places. Another company contacted me and they charge 15% plus a $40 monthly fee and they only pay once a month. So I didn’t even think about joining that one.

Wonderful episode. Signed up immediately! I can see how much Carolyn loves it! I am so excited to share my art in this marketplace. Unfortunately, I do see some print on demand and mass produced items on there already. It is everywhere but as someone who actually paints and makes everything, it seems there will always be those who will bend the rules. It's disheartening. I hope Michaels has a way to gate keep better in the future. I would hate for the sweet site to be overrun.

Yes! SEO will matter just as much because it is a marketplace. Your SEO will help you rank on their google shopping listings. There isn't a tool just yet to help us though!

Etsy always says that they have the sellers back. Here is another example that they don't care much about sellers. When they came out with shipping being free and told us to add it to our selling price and if we didn't go along with this they would make it more difficult for buyers to find our shop. What they don't tell you is that the real reason is now they get their extra 6.5% on shipping too. All because now it's in the selling price of the item you are selling.

I still think Etsy is a great choice for most sellers. Hopefully you'll have a better experience with MakerPlace. :)

You can purchase your shipping labels directly through Makerplace! The cost is deducted from your funds that have not yet paid out.

And that is messed up cuz if you sell on Etsy and they see your art in a store like that, they have been known to close your shop for copyright.

If that's the case, they should take legal action. :) This happens in the marketplace and it's our responsibility to protect our IP.

Please read the "Markerplace Seller Agreement, numer 3, Product Content and Trademarks" the verbiage seems to me like you are giving them the right to do that. I could be wrong, but it stopped me from selling there.

I heard about that. Unfortunately sellers run the risk of IP infringement whether they source from elements or fonts from Canva, Creative Fabrica, even Adobe. There are bad actors in every marketplace. I recommend sellers continue to do their due diligence to prevent IP infringement. Beyond that, business always carries legal risk. Even if you create your own designs from scratch. :)

There are definitely some frustrated sellers! Right now the Etsy marketplace is still unmatched and I like that we can sell POD and digital products there. But how exciting to have MakerPlace stepping into the handmade space!
