Thanks for this episode. As a TACP from 98-12 and recently retired Apache pilot, the seniors seem to forget where they come from. I’m not blind to realities of senior level constraints and politics, but even in the Warrant Officer world I was surprised how much our concerns are wholesale dismissed.

Jarred, I'm a Former Marine and Soldier with 17 years as an infantryman. I recently joined the Air Guard, 169th ASOS. I will begin training in January for TACP. I know you are a busy dude, I've been following you for a while. If you have any advice for an NCO that has never spent a day in an AF uniform, I'd appreciate it. Either way, this was a bad a** podcast. Thanks!

Thanks for doing this fellas. JT was the first JTAC I had exposure to back when he ran Cleared Hot Productions, it gave me something to aspire to be. His story is all too relatable when it comes to the stigma associated with mental health, and all the red tape when it comes to the rules and regulations. On the bright side though, it seems like his personal endeavors catapulted the hindsight we needed to take better care of our people, and he seems to be doing well for himself in the civilian sector. Having the tenacity in finding solutions to complex problems and the resiliency to endure is why I love this community. Be proactive in your mental health, and take care of each other.

Fantastic interview and we are still battling AFI’s, HAF, and too many individuals who are more concerned about “careerism” than looking out for the community. And I’m absolutely stoked about fellow Veterans who achieve success once they leave uniformed service! “Do epic s**t!”

All so true as a retired Flight Surgeon and psychiatrist. Hope it is more humane and sensible now. ACS at Wright Patterson yeah is so intense. So glad you reconnected.

Thanks for this guys a lot might have went over my head however, a good amount of what JT was talking about in terms of creative problem solving and how to approach regs/processes was really valuable to try and keep in mind.

Similar story but I was recommended to retire in 2010. I was stationed with JT at the 14th ASOS.

Can a person in Air Force special operations tryout for any other tier one unit or just 24th tactics

Short answer, only 1. This is true for all other services as well (SEALs can’t try out for the AF unit). - A

35:50 This. This right here is the #1 mentality holding things back. It's fear of liability so let's just build SOPs or laws based on the lowest common denominator. It's so annoying. There's a 90 y/o driving a 89 Chrysler TC on the road, why am I getting stopped for going 3mph over the speed limit? I guarantee you that person far greater of a hazard but they're within the boundaries with their 20/300 eye sight.
