Yes, ideally keep the motor stowed and use the Minn Kota to put yourself on the mark. However much stronger now with marine alloy LinQ locks.

I discovered the linq lock inadequacy on my setup (same system) when I saw an incoming rogue wave just moments before it hit me. The wave was 2.5 meters high and I had to turn my ski to face it immediately or risk being slammed into nearby jetties. I usually tether everything on my linq systems with multiple bunji cords, so I did not lose my trolling motor, but it made for a very short fishing trip with a damaged mount.

I bought that trolling motor setup from your referral, but the two problems I noticed with the design is that it causes the craft to run to one side due to the weight being too heavy from the trolling motor. Even counter balancing with a 15KG weight was of little help. The second problem was that as you show in your video, the heavy system relies on only 1 set of plastic locks. I suggest extending the frame so that the weight of the battery can counter balance the trolling motor and attach it to an extended plate that can use 2 pairs of locks. I have a much better design for a trolling motor on the jet ski and would like to partner with someone willing to help with the manufacture.

Yes the Jetleds system I had has had a lot of changes over the last two years. I started with the back trolling bracket - and there were several versions. Now I have the front trolling bracket with a 13kg Minn Kota on front right hand side with a lithium battery in back left hand side. Even with an extra 40L fuel tank in the front it now is perfect for me. Great to see new products and concepts that can only improve these bracket designs.
