Very nice 2-parter Julien! I am currently on my first bike, the 2019 CB300R. I am getting a CBR650R as soon as I can sell this one. I really appriciate this review! Havet been looking for a user review for a while now since I am concidering buying a 2020 for this season. I did my licence course in the CB650F and found it quite fun and easy to ride. I did strugle with neutral between first and second gear when upshifting, so that is one of my concerns. But maybe that can be resolved by adjusting the gear lever. Keep up the good work with these videos!

Hey man, thanks a lot for your feedback! Very happy to see my review is useful. My problem with shifting to higher gears was fixed by the adjustment indeed, but before you go and adjust anything, there might be another thing affecting this, namely the RPM. This bike likes to be revved up a bit, which I didn’t realise at first and therefore I used to end up in neutral when shifting from 1st to 2nd, too, due to low RPM. Anyway, hope you’ll enjoy the hell out of your new bike the same way I do, it’s a kick ass machine😉🙏

@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
@@buzzsoul6009 I can usually do around 300 km per one full tank when mostly in the city (4-5k revs). If I was cruising mostly on a highway or outside a city, I could do more. But of course it depends on your riding style and traffic. I imagine the traffic in India is way heavier than in my little Slovakia.. But I am personally pretty happy with the fuel consumption I have. And the bike is super comfortable for a sportsbike. I only feel discomfort after a full day of riding, since the seat is definitely not built for that. even worse when I have a passenger, cause I can't move my ass around too much haha. but if I'm alone, I can ride for up to 2 hours with no break without feeling any discomfort.

Thank you for such a great review! Would you recommend this bike to returning rider? I had just completed moto safety classes to refresh my skills and looking for bike now. Thinking between cbr500r cbr650r cb650r and Trident 660. Test rode Trident today very manageable bike but I didn't like the seat, and wind is uncomfortable on it after 65 mph.
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto Жыл бұрын
Hey Dmitry, thank you for your kind feedback man! Happy you found the review useful ;) I would definitely recommend the CBR as a great bike for a returning rider. It’s not scary to ride but also you won’t get bored anytime soon. While I really enjoy naked bikes, the sportiness of the CBR with the fairing and the clip-on handlebars really sold it for me. I just find it a ton sexier than any naked street bike and comfort-wise it is almost comparable. It’s a perfect blend of the two worlds for me and mine was a very reliable machine, too. Hope this helps, take care!

Nice video Julien, I love the whole CBR range. Iam don’t whether or not to get a cbr500r or the cbr650r for my first bike. Is it definitely comfortable as Iam not as young as I used to be so I don’t want my back killing after an hour or so. The 500r is nearly upright which is good but the 650 looks a bit more hunched over. I love the details you go through. Perfect video
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan, thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the vid! I can only speak for myself but I find this bike really comfortable. I never suffered from back pain on it, but the truth is I am a very active person in a pretty good physical shape, so it surely could play a role.. The only part of my body that would get sore after a full day trip is usually my butt😁 Never sat on the 500 though, so I can’t really compare the two. I would suggest you go to your local Honda dealership and take both bikes for a spin. In my city they offer 45 min test rides and require only a 300 eur deposit, so I assume the conditions are generally this friendly at any Honda dealership. 45 minutes should be enough to see whether your back feels comfortable on the bike.

Love the video, best review I've seen yet. What jacket is that? Can you review the jacket too?
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks a lot for your kind feedback! :) The jacket is Dainese Avro 4. I would love to review it but sadly I don't have it anymore.. so all I can say it's a very nice piece with pockets for protective inserts in the back and on the chest (protectors not included), it comes with a removable thermal layer which is super convenient on cold days (even perfect for winter riding), it has some silver lining on the fabric inside with anti-bacterial effect and you can combine it with any Dainese leather pants. It's not perforated but has zipped openings under arms on the back side as well as on the chest. It was able to withstand rain very well and on summer days I was naturally sweating my ass off, but the adjustable ventilation helped. I bought it for about 420 euros, which was a good price as far as I'm concerned.
@TheWidowMaker.
@TheWidowMaker. 2 жыл бұрын
@@KingJulienMoto I went to check it out yesterday and it's a solid jacket, I live in UK.. Would you go for the perforated one? What happened to your jacket?
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheWidowMaker. I think this one is as solid as it gets man. I wouldn’t go for a perforated one since I would usually ride on cold days during winter months, too, as well as in light rain. Perforation is a weakness in such conditions, as it lets the cold and the water in. I don’t have it because I lost all of my stuff to a fire, including my motorcycle😏

Great review! Our stories are very similar. I am a 1.73m guy, riding a Yamaha MT- 03 since 2018 (which was my first bike- i commute with it all the time unless it's raining) and i'm looking to take the next step forward to a bigger bike. The only bike 2 bikes that really sit well with me are the CBR650R and the R6. A new R6 is too expensive though, so i am leaning towards your bike. Kind of a pointless question but, do you think this is the bike i should get? Anything i should watch out for or any other bike i should look at?
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I would go for CBR unless you want to do a lot of racing on a track. R6 is a total beast but it’s also notorious for how uncomfortable it is. I know all superbikes are not too comfotable to ride and defo not suitable for long rides, but yamaha seems to be on the top discomfort level. Hondas are definitely friendlier for commuters and the CBR650R really offers the best out of the two worlds. And the other commuter friendly sport bikes.. Ninja 650 comes with great price but it lacks the top power that Honda has to offer and feels almost like a naked bike, which is not as exciting. Then there’s the new Aprilia RS660 which is definitely interesting and worth checking. I am very excited about it and I want to test it for sure. It’s pricier though and good for you only if you trust italian bikes, which I personally do, but I know they require way more care and service than japanese bikes.I don’t regret my decision a single bit and I don’t think anyone coming from lightweight class really could. CBR is a wonderful bike :-)
@copa593
@copa593 3 жыл бұрын
@@KingJulienMoto thanks for taking the time to respond. To be honest, the kawa doesn't look as gorgeous in my eyes and the price is not that different. Not for when you are buying a bike. The aprilia does look good, but i wouldnt trust an Italian bike. Most annoying time of a year is for sure when i have to take my bike to the mechanic and i can't ride it for a day or two, so i'd rather keep that to a minimum!
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
@@copa593 I fully agree man! With a japanese bike, you have all information you need to maintain it all by yourself to a pretty extreme extent. And they’re great quality bikes. Anyway - ride safe, be safe and enjoy your new bike, whatever your final decision is ;-)

hi, i really like the way you did the review. I'm planning to sell my cb650r and buy the new cbr650r. is the riding position comfortable enough for city riding? how much it took you to make the change from a naked to a sport bike, in terms of handling the bike in traffic? thanks
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 5 ай бұрын
Hey man, thank you, glad you liked the vid! :) CBR is very comfortable, I could ride it for ages really. So unless you have any back problems you’ll do just fine. In terms of handling it is really not a dramatic difference either. Only the turn angle is a bit wider than with any naked bike, so U-turns take some getting used to, but that’s it. Other than that I connected with the bike immediately. I recommend you test ride it anyway if you have that option, but I’m sure it won’t be a big difference to what you’re used to :)

g Very useful, sensible and helpful review. , I'm a beginner motorcyclist, my first bike at age 48 end am small 166cm,, so which bike of this equation is right for me? I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike & sport tour bike so what is your opinion? o or Kawa Ninja 650 or Aprilia RS660
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hey fellow rider, if you’re looking for a sports tourer then the position on Ninja 650 is definitely more upright and back-friendly than the CBR. Also, it comes for the best price, has a really cool TFT display, looks fantastic in the signature Kawi green and must be great fun to ride with its twin cylinder engine with a lot of torque. It also comes with optional touring package, which includes two saddle bags and a tall windscreen, so you wouldn’t have to look for aftermarket products if you’re willing to invest an extra buck.. The top power is not as good as with Honda or Aprilia, but perfectly sufficient for touring in my opinion. I would like to test and review it next season for sure. The RS660 looks just amazing and I imagine it is a great sports tourer, too, but I’ve never even sat on one of those bikes, so hard to tell how it actually feels. One thing I know for sure though, it has the most peak power in its class but it is also the most expensive alternative, plus Italian bikes usually require more professional (authorized) service than Japanese ones. But hell, if you can afford the bike and fall in love with it, then go for it for sure and I seriously doubt you’d be dissapointed! ;-) It’s just that Japanese bikes are very easy to maintain more or less on your own and also very realiable, which makes them pretty popular and practical. And if you decide to go for a naked bike, then CB650R is the top in my opinion. The design is a work of art, it is comfy but also sporty and playful and I love the in line four, which is the same as on my bike.

I also had a full day motorcycle training on those tires where we were trying leans etc. (check out the ep. 29 of my vlog) and they did their job. But a lot of people have been complaining about them and made some bad experience so if you want to go knee down on the race track, I would probably recommend something more solid. Can u remove the passenger seat cap?
@KingJulienMoto
@KingJulienMoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, yes you can totally remove it and replace it with the passenger seat. I just like to have the seat cowl on because it looks sporty and awesome, but everytime I have a passenger I use the passenger seat. And to your second question I can only say the bike is very friendly and smooth, so I think it would make a safe beginner bike. It definitely feels safer than my first bike BMW G310R and I even see a lot of girls getting this bike and handling it perfectly well, despite it’s weight. Hope this helps, cheers.

If you know how to ride bikes and have small experience riding 300cc segments then okay. I won't recommend a newbie 650 class.

I have to second @@alvinphilip5940. I do not think it is the best(!?) idea to start riding a bike with CBR650R. If you want some relatively high (!?) powered bike as a starter, I would recommd Ninja 400 which is such a bang for the buck & very reliable. Also, you can easily keep it for 2-3 years (or 20k - 25k miles)

@@Tobeon2 plus, it’s easier on the mind if you accidentally drop the bike. Not that I’m saying dropping a bike is ever fun. (I do ride a second hand 250 and it’s easier to learn when you have a peace of mind)

I have a CBR650F as my first bike, basically the same bike with a few changes. It's certainly doable but if you're clumsy, haphazard or lack self control start on something like a 250cc cruiser style bike. In my case I'm a fast learner, tall, able to comfortably manage the weight, and most importantly disciplined in the art of road craft. Everyone is different, your first bike is a personal and delicate choice that ultimately determines how long you'll ride and or live.

After one year things that I disliked: Grips are hard plastic and offer zero grip. Throttle is god awful, wonky and just feels unprecise. I would say the seat is pretty on the hard side. My ass hurt after a day of riding. While the clutch is nice and easy to use and perfect for commuting it also give no feedback or engagement point. Overall a nice bike but too expensive in my opinion with the throttle/grips being the biggest flaws. I sold it after a year.

Hey man, thank you for sharing your experience! This again proves how different we can feel about the same product. I don’t have any problem with the throttle or the engagement point of the clutch and the seat gets uncomfortable for me only when I’m not on my own. But that’s why I did the review solely on my behalf. There are too many factors to consider and no matter how hard you try to be objective, the only truly objective facts are the specs of the bike and nothing else. Then it’s all about preference. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, all the best :-)

@@KingJulienMoto The throttle/grip only annoyed me in the last few months, but they should be better for this price imo. Get an exhaust on yours, the engine is great fun (even compared to the liter bike I got afterwards) and sounds awesome without that huge cat.

Reading back my comments I sound kinda too negative about the bike. It's an awesome maschine and I had tons of fun with it in that year as it was my first own bike. I just think for the price the throttle and seat could have been better. But I could have fixed that with mods if I intended to keep it^^
