The 6max cartridge looks awesome, and solves a number of issues with the 6arc. With the 6arc, a 20rd mag becomes a 15rd mag due to cartridge diameter. Also with the 6max, the bolt is able to retain material supporting the locking lugs, and reduces the shear stress on lug for the same pressures. These are the two MASSIVE advantages over the 6arc/grendel chamberings.

If you guys make the rifles, cool. But we also need ammo and magazines. If there is no affordable factory ball ammo you can buy and then potentially reload, and nothing but 20rnd Duramags and funky Wilson Combat versions of 15rnd Lancers, this thing is DOA. I love the idea, the ballistics check out, but please don't let it die like the thousands of other wildcats out there. I don't want you first serious review to happen on Forgotten Weapons.

This is a wildcat round. Only one source for ammo, and guns. For this to exceed it needs SAAMI approval, so other sources for factory loaded ammo. Other manufactures for barrels and guns. The 6mm Max is from the 350 Legend. The 350 Legend is fully supported from the industry and available with on the shelf ammo and guns.

After talking to an insider about 6 Max and looking at all the hard data I believe we are at the front end of something truly special. My barrel is on the way as I am typing this out.

I have been wanting a SOLGW gun for a while and also been wanting a little further shooting rifle why not get both. I am training to be a gunsmith now ( I need a job, Mike!) I had no idea what my rifle was capable of when I was in the Infantry and that is so sad to say! I always assumed if someone shooting bad it was always their fault! Now I know it could be the rifle!

So long as brass and ordnance grade steel barrels are available, I will buy this cartridge. I don't own an alternative AR-15 cartridge but the 6mm Max presents itself as the best available option for myself since I've learned to reload.

I haven't watched the podcast yet, but from what I've been told it's based on the 350 Legend. If you don't have to neck turn it should be pretty easy to form.

If you wanna run this round the same as 556 I’d like it to remain below 2 moa as long as possible on a slow paced(100-200 rounds a month non full auto or dumping mags)shooting schedule

I am very interested in this cartridge. Especially considering it’s performance in SBR style forearms. I would like more info regarding the gas system setup per barrel length. Is it similar to the standards for carbine, mid, and rifle lengths?

Can't wait for this to release. I've never bought a fully assembled gun, but I'm probably going to buy this one. 11.5" if available. My question is how available is the Ammo? I checked online and there were few places I found. Still looking forward to a 6mm projectile from an M4 platform.

Not sure about switching from 6arc to 6max but.... I can say without reservations that the m89 rail and broadsword upper combo is legit.....heavy....but legit... with proof barrel....its very accurate.... I might try the max..... but you gotta get ammo to Alaska for me 😅

How does the 6 Max dwell time compare to 5.56? Velocity is fantastic out of the 10.5” Max but does dwell time increase as dramatically going to 11.5” as it does with 5.56?

Very interesting cartridge, but I’m going to wait 2-3 years, before I build a rifle. Ammo availability is what’s holding me back the most. 300 Blackout took a while to be accepted, and I think it got a push, because 7.62x39 became more expensive due to Ukraine.

I love this nerd shit...Increasing the velocity allows for your holds overs to be much closer together at distance. The projectile isn't falling as fast due to the increased velocity at the same given distance of (x)

Same bolt/bcg as 5.56, .350 legend mags unless they have released 6Max specific mags

I agree that 6mm Max makes 5.56 obsolete, with the logistics being the only thing that is the current consideration. As long as there are 6mm Max 30rd mags, it makes 5.56 pointless.

Except that there are 10’s of millions of rifles chambered in 5.56 and who knows how many ammo manufacturers churning out 5.56. Better engineering doesn’t mean it will be adopted or replace 5.56.

SOLGW, can you make a video on why to buy a more expensive SOLGW upper compared to a similar spec'ed upper that's much cheaper. Im thinking SOLGW vs Bear Creek, but admittenly, i don't know what materials BC uses, but I think thos would be a good topic.
