When you were getting to the soya milk, I noticed there are no breathing holes under your mattress in the wood base. Just a tip/idea, you might want to drill 1 - 1/2 inch holes, spaced evenly at around 6 - 7 inches, to allow it to 'breathe' & prevent mould building up due to damp & air flow under a mattress is key to preventing it 🙂
@patrickandmichaela4 ай бұрын
Good idea! On most of the beds we have that honeycomb style air flow material, we were looking at buying the same stuff for this bed, but just need to land some place to send it :) Thanks for the tip and joining us on this weeks adventure! ⛵🎉

@patrickandmichaela Regarding the dreaded egg pan. It is sticking like that because you are scrambling the eggs in the pan. If you scramble them in a bowl first then heat your oil/butter in the pan then add the eggs, they will not stick. Just move them back and forth slowly as the bottom section of eggs start to cook. The eggs stick together and not to the pan. But the key is also to heat the pan and oil BEFORE adding the eggs. Hope you give it a try! So much easier for cleanup!

Good to see a "day in the life" video and it's really useful to see the things you get up to, and some of the things that sailors have to think about, that landlubbers don't have to think about. Off the back of your culinary content near the end of the video a thought for future content could be about how you plan your provisioning for when you travel to prevent running out of essentials too quickly, or how you might cope if you end up anchored somewhere where the local supermarket has a lot less choice. Obviously it's your boat and you organise things how you want to, but if it's a trauma to access new cartons of almond milk from storage then would you be better off moving it to a more convenient location? Or is it there because you just don't go through it quickly enough compared to other stuff? Fingers crossed you get to have a bigger buffer between filmed content and releasing it! I'm sure even on boring days though there's bound to be stuff you can share, even if it's boring! Sailing life isn't always repairs (I'm sure you must get at least half hour off from making repairs to things lol), washing and cooking 😁
@patrickandmichaela4 ай бұрын
Glad to see you found our video to be useful! We will certainly get more into our provisioning and culinary content. We definitely struggled when we broke our engine in the Bahamas, had to get really creative with our food! I wouldn't exactly say getting the milk was a trauma, but we definitely need to reorganize things to make more sense. It is a big goal of ours for the summer actually, to figure out better storage and where we would like things to actually be. We will definitely be trying to share more of all of the aspects of our sailing lives 🙂 Thank you so much for always being here with us on our journey 🎉⛵

add foil backed sunshades to your hatches/windows to keep the heat out and maybe a sunshade fitted up top on deck. Do you know if your boat is insulated? Have you looked under the headliners?
@patrickandmichaela3 ай бұрын
This is a good idea. We definitely could do more to keep the place shaded and the sun at bay. The insulation was redone a few years ago so it really well done. Usually our boat stays cool until about mid day holding on to the cold, and then holds onto the heat of the day well into the night. Bit of a blessing and a curse in this way, but if we could get some form of cold air going inside it would be fantastic.

2:12 if your using almond milk only because it doesn’t go bad, look into “shelf stable” milk. It typically comes in similar size cartons.

I hate carburetors. I bought a fuel injected engine instead. No more carburetor issues, no more fighting with the choke to get it started. I'm 70 years young so I remember well the days before fuel injection. Carburetors never worked well, even when they were working well. You can't even buy a car/truck with a carburetor now.

Whats the reason for removing the labels on the cans? I see all the boat lifers do it
