Some advice: if you trust mooring balls more than your own anchor setup, then it's time to improve it! You're living a life where you need to have confidence in your own gear. Don't cheap out on ground tackle. Always back down on your anchor. Make sure you have a type of anchor that can reset quickly. Make sure your chain is in good condition. Know how much scope you've let out. When storms come, let out more. Keep a spare anchor and rode. Have enough lines on board to tie out 250ft to a mangrove/tree. You guys are doing great, keep it up! Chesapeake is where I learned to sail. Usually wind is too light or too heavy, but there is a protected anchorage almost any direction you want to go. No need to anchor in a rough anchorage. You guys are doing great! Just keep putting those sails up. It gets easier.

Your hull cleaner is Oxalic acid. If people think vinegar will work, Oxalic acid is about 10,000 times “stronger” than the acetic acid in vinegar (vinegar is a 5% solution of acetic acid). So yeah...

CLR should do a good job on that brown stain from the swamp and the actual magic erasers do a great job on many things around the boat. and for screws don't go to WM. Lowes, Home Depot or Tractor Supply has stainless hardware.

Ladies don't sweat they "Glisten" just a saying from the south, when I lived in NC. Also I love the noise cicada make. Same advice I give Supernova. Get the F’ing stay sail out. Francis and Roland built the most perfect cruising Cat when the Snow Goose first sailed from Canvy Island. That staysail is important to the rigs balance and worth a couple knots. People who work in factories work “shifts “ sailors stand “WATCH”. Please do not confuse the duty of a seaman taking responsibility for their ship and its crew with a bored guy watching a machine stamping out cogs.
@patrickandmichaela
@patrickandmichaela 4 күн бұрын
What an awesome comment, we need a new car for our stay sail because it currently can only use around 70% of the track, which is very annoying and seems to blow into the mainsail in an unproductive way. Will take note of shift vs watch in the future 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to help and for sticking with us on this adventure 🙂🎉⛵

@@patrickandmichaela Try white vinegar first... add Lemon juice ... Oxalic acid solution can remove rust from stainless and may work on the tannin stains or green algae... Eutrophication of inland and coastal waters leads to the red tides and blue green algae blooms .. It's usually the extra nitrates and phosphates from washing soaps and detergents, run off, or high residuals from treated discharges. Boats looking fine and your both looking more relaxed.

Starlink? Mobile-regional with the mobile-priority temporarily turned on? Or… thanks
@patrickandmichaela
@patrickandmichaela 4 күн бұрын
Correct! We just use mobile-regional because we are often close enough to land where it still counts as not priority, but when we are crossing any more than 10 miles off shore we turn on the temporary priority data to make sure we keep our connection. Because the pricing works out the same as pre paying for the 250, we think it makes more sense this way. 🙂

In South Carolina we use Adolf's Meat tenderizer to neutralize the jelly fish sting. The enzymes in the tenderizer does the trick. The other remedy is uric acid. Just pee on it. I have used gill nets most of my youth and those were the things we used when the mullet were running in the fall. Safe sailing.
@patrickandmichaela
@patrickandmichaela 4 күн бұрын
The vinegar seemed to do the trick, and the sting wasn't actually that bad in general. But will have to look into this meat tenderizer, but that also kind of sounds like something a shark would suggest a human does before getting back into the water 🙂😂 Thank you so much joining us on our adventure 🎉⛵
