My wife asked, if she died and I remarried would I let my new wife wear her clothes. I said yes. Then she asked, if she died and I remarried would I let my new wife use her fine china. I said yes. Then she asked, if she died and I remarried would I let my new wife use her golf clubs. I said no....she's left-handed.

I just had a similiar white "whisky" over here in Germany - after matured the spirit for 20 years they then used an iron cask to remove all the tanines and so this clear spirit is left over - really fascinating!

Today is my dad's birthday and he passed away a couple years ago and i know it probably won't happen but I'd like to see a review of fleischmann's whiskey, I know some people classifiy it as a "garbage" whiskey. But it was my old man's favorite.

Been in Calgary for 20 years and though I've seen White Owl, I've never tried it and didn't know it was local. Going to have to do something about that, methinks. :-) Perhaps it is time to give it a shot.

Dude! So my birthday is next week (feel free to send gifts), and my parents took me and my family out to lunch yesterday to celebrate early. When they showed up, my mom was carrying a large paperbag... they bought me Monkey Shoulder and Tomatin 12 (thanks to my wife, whom I have a random "affordable whiskey wish list" for if she ever wants to get me a gift lol)! I sampled both last night and really enjoy them both. I took about 1/3 of the Tomatin and 1/2 of the Monkey Shoulder and am currently aging them in a 1L oak barrel for a couple weeks to see what happens :) You two have really helped me find some amazing whiskeys and taught me a ton! Thank you to both of you!

This is a story about Daniel and Rex going to a funeral. It was a rainy day as Daniel and Rex head to a funeral for a mutual friend. Daniel dressed up in his usual black v-neck shirt while Rex had the decency to finally shower. Rex steps up first to say a few things about the loss of their friend. He clears his voice then suddenly remembers that he was only friends because he gave him free whiskey. Rex freezes for a moment as a single tear rolls down his cheek not at the thought of losing a friend but at the thought of one less person giving him free whiskey. He also realizes that he knew nothing else about this guy and is at a loss of words of what to say. Acting fast, he decides to describe him like he does whiskey "He was very friendly and approachable" he begins "He was complex but not challenging while also being simple. The type of guy I could watch a movie with and get along with fine. He also knew my safe word." Meanwhile, as per the usual, Daniel doesn't care that Rex is talking. Daniel thinks about the last whiskey he shared with his friend. Being a level 3 Sommelier Daniel has the power to taste whiskey without drinking it. He remembers the last whiskey they shared and is suddenly able to taste it again. He grows frustrated with himself unable to identify a hidden note from it. Right before Rex asks for a moment of silence, and with out warning, Daniel yells out "APPLE. It was APPLE!" he says excitedly as the rest of the room is in mourning "Not candied apple but a freshly picked granny smith. You know how you go to the orchard and you get your little basket and pick the apples from the trees" Daniel continues on this rant and then begins telling stories about how he toured with Aerosmith. "Shut your face" Rex yells out right before Daniel begins telling a dad joke. Daniel remembering where he is, quickly shuts his face. Rex finally has his moment of silence as more tears run down his face unsure where he will get his next free whiskey. As Rex makes his way back to his seat, a relative of the deceased man nudges Rex. "I had no idea he meant that much to you" He says in a somber tone "Let's have a drink in his memory" the relative says handing Rex a freshly poured whiskey. Rex's eyes light up and his tears turn into tears of joy "you magnificent bastard" he says as he takes a sip. The End.

Live stream selections- Talisker 10 Redbreast 12 Evan Williams Single Barrel Knob Creek Rye Old Pulteney 12 or a good blend (JW Black/Dewar's12/Chivas Japanese or Canadian? There's a lot of whiskies that would qualify, but shouldn't Talisker and Redbreast be mandatory?

First time commenter even though I've been subbed since you were at 3,000 subs. One of the big brands that I would recommend that everyone try would actually be Jim Beam. Even though they do have some afful stuff like their vanilla or apple bourbons, I think that their traditional white label bourbon, devils cut, bounded, and their single barrel are good quality for the cheap price. Love the content and hope you guys have a good rest of your day.

Rex and Daniel, in reference to friendship - "I may not always be on your side, but I'll always have your back." My answer to the alcohol/no-alcohol. I would be in for the no-alcohol version (assuming that the flavor experience was Identical) because then I could drink whisky at work, at church, at the park, in public... even more than I already do. My answer to the biscuit dilemma, is I always assumed that the word implied a bread/meal biscuit, not a cookie. Team Rex's Biscuit !!

Hey Daniel, its not easy finding certain whisky. Sometimes it's do to the whisky not being popular in my area such as this White Owl and sometimes because it's too popular such as my inability to find a Wellers 12. Any tips on getting my hands on these fine products with out sacrificing my ethical code with a liquor store clerk?

Regarding the 2 martini lunch: Classic/historical cocktails used to be quite a smaller in volume compared to today's offerings. Go into a nice bar today and you will typically see 3-4 oz drinks, of which a 2 oz pour of the base spirit is common. But back in pre- and post-prohibition times, up until the 70s-ish, drinks were maybe 2-3 oz total. And martinis in particular used to be much more vermouth heavy (2:1 gin to vermouth, or even 1:1, as opposed to today's bone dry martini obsession). You get a good sense of this when looking at vintage cocktail glasses - they are MUCH smaller than modern glasses. So a 2 martini lunch in the 40s and 50s would not have been quite the ass kicking compared to a 2 martini lunch today.

I have a internal dilemma going on with the biscuit cookie debate, I can see it being either depending on what you are drinking. I think it really comes down to when you say oh its biscuity you need to specify which type of biscuit. Also I think what I have come down to for my list for available whisk(e)y's for the live stream is Irishman, Johnnie Walker, Glenmorangie and Angels Envy. I could go into being specific on each of them but I think in general those are all fairly accessible and shouldn't be to high in price. For fifth one I would have to be specific and say Ardbeg 10 just because I really enjoy it.

Hey guys, great video and a really interesting whiskey. I had a question: In a couple weeks a wine tasting room near me is going to start having scotch tastings. I'm really excited but also somewhat nervous. I started my scotch journey around 5 or 6 years ago and in that time I've done numerous scotch tasting nights with friends, but never with a group of strangers. What are some things I should avoid doing when tasting in a group so as not to negatively affect anyone else's tasting experience? On the flip-side, what are some things I could do to help promote and grow the local community? Keep up the great work, congrats on 18k subs, and look forward to seeing you guys Saturday for the live stream. Cheers!

+Whiskey Vault hi, stumbled upon your channel and i love it! love ur videos, love ur reviews, u guys just give it straight up "neat". this past year i've been converted from vodka to scotch/whiskey, and bottles that did the deed were yamazaki 12 and jura 16 y.o. before, it was all vodka for me, i couldn't even take whiskey. but now, i'm trying out more whiskies and enjoying them very much. so, i'm hoping u guys could do a review on jura scotch, preferrably the 16 y.o. thanks. subscribed and notification on!

I have half a bottle of white Owl on my shelf. I got it on a whim it's flavor is good but rather subdued not the best for me I prefer strong flavors (black coffee and spicy food). I am planing to give some to a friend who dislikes whiskey and finds it too harsh. So if you have I softer pallet it might work for you.

I enjoyed this whiskey but it doesn't taste like a traditional whiskey at all. It is great nonetheless though. I had this and Glenfiddich the same night and it was like I had a whiskey and a mixed spirit. It was great and I will still drink it to this day when I crave a different flavour.

Hey Dan and Rex, I just picked up a bottle of The Singleton of Glendullan 18. I'm new to whiskeys, I have tried McCallans 12, Woodford Reserve and the Singleton Glendullan 18. If you guys are interested and have some on hand, could you do a review? Also, I found the Hibiki Master's Select at the local store here, but it's $63, worth?

I say it is either a cookie or a biscuit based on where the beverage came from, so if it is from a country that commonly calls a shortbread cookie a biscuit, it is a biscuit. Sorry Rex... You are wrong.

#teamcookie Biscuits are a flour based baked bread product. Primarily characterized by having cold fat cut into the flour prior to having the liquids added. "Biscuit Method" is a culinary term specifically defining how to make quick breads like scones and biscuits. Following this method will not create a cookie. I have an AOS in Culinary Arts from the New England Culinary Institute, and close to a decade experience in kitchens and bakeries, so I know what Im talking about. Seriously though I love your channel, and I cant drink whiskey. I dont know what it is something about the alcohol taste in Whiskey as well as tequila makes my gag reflex go nuts. Im a rum guy myself, and wish I could hear you guys talk about rum the way you talk about whiskey. Anyway keep up the great work, love your videos.

I find it hard to call what is a "big brand" I suppose Jameson and jack daniels spring to mind as they are giants. Glenfiddich and Grouse would be the main scotches in most people would name. For the last one I'm torn between bushmills, powers, bells or grants as they are all common bar whiskys and I'd love to know what you think of them.

ok, i subbed, you guys are getting me to drink MUCH more scotch than i am supposed to... (and i do have quite a few...mostly Islay...) Did you guys try the Explorers club johnnie walker limited? ITS GREAT! I am not a blended type of guy (like i said, i love Islay) But this one is GREAT! You also gotta try the bowmore small batch (the green bottle) I prefer it to the regular 12yo. Anyway, done with the rambling. Keep on drinking.... now..... go drink NOW!

I'm always in the market for another good whisky. Really need to try that blend. The Bowmore small batch is freakishly smooth to the point of almost mild. It's become a good gateway introduction to Islay or me to use.
