Hey I want to do the same thing for a body cart for my Chevelle like you did but I want to add casters on mine so I can move it around. How was yours been holding up since it's been a year plus?
@soolegarage
@soolegarage 2 жыл бұрын
Long post on the ground 82 inches long. both cross pieces that support the cab are 84 inches long. Sitting on top of the front top post is a 58 inch 4 x 4.The Two front support posts are 21 inches the two back support posts are 30 inches. I used 6 inch lag screws to hold everything together, pre-drilling all my holes so I didn’t split any wood i also added 4x4 pieces‘s cut at 45° angle in all of the corners to help support and make it strong. One other note on the front top cab support I had to angle or remove a some wood, it’s held up really @t might be able to look back at the video I wrote the measurements on the boards if there’s any confusion let me know. If you need more info email me at soolegarage@gmail.com

Just wondering if you were able to get the body onto your cart by yourself. I assume you used an engine puller in the front, but I'm not sure what you used in the back and where it was placed.
@soolegarage
@soolegarage 3 жыл бұрын
Yes did it by myself, and yes engine puller in the front. In the rear I used a floor jack with an attachment called a jack cross beam. The crossbeam stretches out to about 32 inches and I placed a 6 x 6 post on the trunk pan under the jack. It’s allowed me to keep the rear end pretty stable as I was letting it down onto the frame.

Do you have a drawing for the body cart you built? Or any types of plans? Great video!

I do not have anything drawn up but here are some measurements for the cart. Long post on the ground is 82" long. Both cross pieces that support the body are 84' long. Sitting on top of the cross piece is a 58' 4x4. The two front support posts are 21 inches and the back two support pieces are 30 inches. I also added added small pieces cut at 45 degree angle in all corners for added strength/ support. All corners are fastened together with 6' lag screws. One other note, on the cross member that sits next to the firewall. I had to trim or angle the post so it did not rub on the firewall. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mr Soole, Love the videos, I’m right at lifting the body and I will be using your 4X4 car stand, I notice more than just 6 Mount bolts on each side, about every two feet as I pulled out 8 bolts total. I guess my question is did the body come up pretty easy or did you need to put anything in between the body and the frame to get it separated, any direction will be appreciated
@soolegarage
@soolegarage 2 жыл бұрын
Once all the body mount bolts were removed the body separated from the frame pretty easy. No restrictions at all. I got the body up in the air than mounted the cross braces onto the body cart. Next I lowered the body onto the cart. Curious what car your working on?

@@soolegarage I did find the length of the top rear 4x4 by watching part 2 and pausing it around 1:20. I see 45 1/2 written on the top 4x4. I bought all of the lumber today and have it all cut. Tomorrow I will fasten together. Thank you for the video of the body cart, this is probably the best way to hold the GM A-body and at a very reasonable price.
