BTS is beyond K-Pop, they are a genre themselves. 3 Rappers and 4 Vocalists. RM is the rapper and leader of BTS, coming out of the ambulance. BTS speaks to a wide age range, and they spoke to a 64 y/o Army! Army don't mind if you watch the video just to enjoy the music then watch again for the lyrics. It can be overwhelming at first. We don't mind long videos! Looking forward to your journey! subscribed

In fairness, Mic Drop is not a super deep song and neither is Seven. But their catalog of songs includes bangers and bops that sound fun but cover topics like socio-political and economic issues, generational conflicts, mental health, psychological theory, philosophy, history, and more. Some songs are vastly improved on by watching explanation videos to help you unpack metaphors, cultural references and nuanced language play that doesn’t come across in translations. Especially a lot of the rap line songs. The rappers are the main lyricists in the group and they run deep.

Keep reacting to BTS. You’re about to have your mind blown. Some of the best rappers, best vocalists, best dancers, best songwriters and best producers in the world, all in one group. I’m not kidding. And their live shows are insane. You’ll soon see the language barrier is nothing compared to their artistry. They are the biggest in the world for very good reasons. Their come up story is also insane. I reccomemd Taylor Mari’s Guide to the Bangtan 7 when you are ready to learn their story and their names. Their catalog is vast. They have 20 albums out since their debut in 2013. And 9 solo albums, mainly from the rap line (the three rappers.) Plus singles, OSTs and covers, collabs and remixes. There are literally hundreds of songs.

BTS has such a large range of genres. Just let Army know what kind of songs you'd like to hear first and we'll do our best to point you to which songs you might like. To expand on what some people were saying about k-pop not being a genre but an industry- Calling all music that's in Korean "k-pop" is like saying every song that's in English is a pop song. What the west calls "k-pop" is actually called Idol Music in Korea. Just like in the US and other countries there is still hip-hop, folk, r&b, rock, alternative, just everything we have here. The west referring to all music that comes out of Korea as "k-pop" is really just another way to lump a group of people together. I think it's done a great disservice to BTS because people assume it's going to be bubble-gum pop music or non-sensical noise music. But they're not the biggest band in the world because of that, it's because they have amazing music that spans multiple genres, seriously stunning lyrics, well-produced songs and I haven't heard a single beat that's missed yet. That's not even getting into how the rapper can ride that beat or how the vocalist are all on a whole other level. And all of them have had a hand in making those things, writing lyrics, producing, composing, making beats- they can really go it all. And they're just really genuine and honest people- which is rare in any form of entertainment industry. But I think you'll get it if you keep travelling down the rabbit hole. thank you for the reaction 💜hope to see you continue the journey

but with that said - im just asking because i can't tell what side youre on - bts is kpop? if we say kpop = idol music, bts are idols, bts make korean music, bts are kpop.
@BoraBlooded
@BoraBlooded Жыл бұрын
@@BoraBox7 In my opinion BTS are a group of Korean artists. While they started in the idol system, I personally believe they've gone beyond that. I consider them artists. Idol Groups are generally performers. Though I do think that's slowly starting to change with some companies allowing idol groups to participate in music-making more. But at the moment those are still acceptions to the rule.
@BoraBox7
@BoraBox7 Жыл бұрын
@@BoraBlooded i think most of the popular kpop groups i can think of (twice, skz, svt, majority of soloists, gidle, got7, day6, monsta x... the list continues) the groups that write their own songs, its actually pretty common. whilst i do agree bts are a league above, and should be respected way more than they are by the other idols in the industry, theres nothing that splits them from kpop. most of the time its petty armys that say things like other kpop fans hate on bts therefore we wont associate with those fans and like to say bts isn't in the same category, yet those same fans get mad when bts aren't nominated in a kpop category. when you break it down really theres nothing different. like how you mentioned the term kpop can do a disservice, that's not just for bts anyways. thats what every korean artist has to experience. and its not even kpops fault itself. its iust western music industry and ignorant people calling something cringe because they don't want a reason to have to like something. basically the only groups making purely bubblegum music are usually nugus, twice have strayed from that now themselves so theres no popular groups remaining that sound. the only problem with the kpop label is changing how the west percieve it. not taking bts out of it. if anything keeping bts there is the biggest change to changing how korean music is percieved.
@BoraBlooded
@BoraBlooded Жыл бұрын
@@BoraBox7 I don't agree with all of this. But I'm not going to go in on other groups and idol music because I don't want it to come off the wrong way. But when I say most, I mean most. You're talking about some popular groups but that don't represent the idol industry as a whole. There are hundreds of groups that debut and disband every year. And there are still big companies that don't allow idols to take part in the creative process, or worse- only let male idols have creative say. Things are changing but majority still have no say. Which isn't anything against them, it's the company at fault for that. However, what I want to clarify is that it's not just a disservice to BTS- I think the umbrella term of k-pop does a disservice to everyone in the Korean music industry. It lumps everyone together and like any other country, Korean music isn't all the same. I've always seen K-Pop used in the west as a way to otherize and lump together a group of people. So I don't like to use it as a descriptor. BTS isn't K-pop, they're a Korean Group. I would say Twice is an Idol Group, I would say Epik High is a Hip-Hop group. I wouldn't call either of them K-Pop and generalize them together. Just like I wouldn't generalize and say Tupac & Mary J Blige are US-Pop. They're both different genres that shouldn't be lumped together because they're from the same country.

K-Pop is not a music genre, and neither are songs sung in Korean. K-Pop is an industry, where companies have the mission of finding talented young people to become what they call Idols, who debut in a group, or who become just soloists. In these K-Pop companies, there is a training system, where these young people train their skills for years, (or it can be months sometimes), to debut. The 'K' in "K-Pop", it means Korea, that is, this type of selection to debut in these companies, it will be in Korea. But there are also J-Pop, T-Pop, etc... which are from different countries in Asia. This song you heard is pure Hip-Hop

Just because a song is in Korean, doesn't make it KPOP,. KPOP is the Idol industry music. BTS are in that Category, but they are not just KPOP. They have transcended the KPOP label by becoming global superstars that are known for mixing and fusing many genres. There is no other group like BTS in the world. They broke the mold when it came to KPOP groups. They debuted as a HIP HOP IDOL group, which hadn't been done before. Sure, other KPOP groups do rap, but BTS are students of HIP HOP, and 2 of their members came from underground Hip Hop, and one came from Street Dance and became a solid rapper by learning from the other two. They were supposed to be a HIp Hop rap group before their CEO changed the project and made them a HIP HOP IDOL group. The KPOP and the Underground Rap communities gave them backlash and they had to fight to be where they are today. I would say they are as successful as they are today because they were not your typical KPOP group, and their CEO gave them artistic freedom in their music. Please check out these two songs, because you will see them differently if you do. "K-pop" can refer to all popular music or pop music from S Korea, it is colloquially often used in a narrower sense for any Korean music and artists associated with the entertainment and idol industry in the country, regardless of the genre. Kpop is an industry not a pre-say genre. It encompasses all music done by idols (title for this country's artists). It's not a language. See some idols release songs in Japanese & then some in Latin (Spanish), etc... depending on what country they are gearing for... such as "western" of USA (English). So many are not teaching or sharing the true concept of what Kpop is. So do not turn away from Kpop songs sung in a language outside of Korean. If you do you are missing out. Some of BTS most beautiful songs are done in Japanese. Such as "Your Eyes Tell" ... it's beyond beautiful. I cry each time I listen to it. It was used as a theme song for drama movie. The story behind is sad but inspiring. Loved your reaction. Mic Drop is a favorite of many of us BTSARMY. The guys got their swag on. The one you questioned about is the leader of the group RM...Kim Namjoon. I am a long term ARMY...been with BTS before we even got the name of our fandom. I hit the subscribe button. Hoping you watch MVs or live performances outside the supposed "Korean" songs that some led you to believe are the only Kpop songs. Do not fall for those words. Blessings to you. Eager to watch you react to more.

If Mr. Lor likes it ferocious, then he might like the tongue technology of August D’s “August D” & in the same reaction he can watch “Amygdala” to get his backstory song. Ty Mr. Lor for your honest reaction.❤

Please watch one of the many videos telling you who they are. Their history. Also watch them performing live that’s when they are at their best. Their last concert in Busan was great. They fill stadiums of 60 thousand or more seats sell out in under one hour. Check them out.

Even from their debut back in 2013 I would say BTS have always skirted around the fringes of Kpop, part of that scene but not really. Some fans shout 'they are not Kpop' but BTS even call themselves Kpop! Jungkook even said just last week that he wants to go between Kpop and Pop. So don't worry too much about what people say in the comments. Personally I would say BTS are mainstream global artists and once you get into their discography you will see why. Looking forward to you hearing some of their amazing R&B style tracks. HOME PARADISE LOVE MAZE

the own memebrs sdaud they dont want to use that kpop label, rm said in an interview: we dont want to limit this music or our hearts to this boundary called kpop, kpop is just another termn people use to segregate artists of color just like people do with latin artists and black artists, they would nominate a pop song by a black artists in r&b categories and not the main categories and the same with latin artists

Calling any song sung in Korean "Kpop" is the same as calling every song sung in English "Pop"... the language does not define the genre.

You look just like my nephew i love BTS music video the are very talented all of them but I don't think I will be looking at your show because you have so much negative things to say and you rate there songs very low you need to learn about before you judge them

2:16 i don’t get why you’re so confident about this being kpop? Supposedly, you should know nothing about what Kpop actually is 😂 They chewed you in the comments cause BTS is not considered Kpop because Kpop is not a genre but an Industry and said industry has a specific way things must be done which makes kpop groups often just clones of each other that do not even write lyrics, just perform. BTS on the other hand do not follow the standards at all and are not even recognized as kpop by the kpop fans themselves.
