Desigirl ji, Kyi-drong (another alternative for Kyirong; Geelong sounds like a sinicized mispronunciation of Kyirong-‘Happy Valley’) is where my late parents came from. Phagpa Temple recently became a nunnery. It used to be occupied by monks pre-1959. Zonkar Choedé Monastery in Zonkar, higher up from Kyirong, used to look after its administration since the Fifth Dalai Lama’s time. The seven water bowls represents offerings-drinking water, water for washing the feet/hands, flower, incense, lamp, scented water (perfume, ritual cake. In other words, it’s arti in the Indian tradition practiced in Tibet symbolically. Thank you for all the beautiful shots of my homeland. You made me envy you and almost transported me to a dreamland. I haven’t seen Kyirong in more detail till this iney of yours. Jai Tibet! Jai Aryavarta (India)!
