This BoB 1 series has been my personal favorite thing on all of KZbin for all of time. I'm a professional woodworker and air guitarist. I've seen TED talks, "Like A Boss" compilations, Black Smithing, Knife Making, Slow Mo, and "Me at the Zoo" since KZbin launched. But this sir is far and away my personal favorite. The slight twisting of the feathers is my favorite part. An aspect that I did not foresee and I wonder whether or not you did either until right before you did it. It's brilliant. Oh and I've seen tazer video upon tazer videos too. This tops it. Well done.

Watched the whole build start to finish.. where is the demo? I want to see it in action.
@greatwhite619674 жыл бұрын
I just finished watching this marathon build as well & i too could not find the Full Demo of this guitar either!.. After the guitar build was finished I remember Ben saying they would hold on to the guitar at Crimson for a while to let it settle in & do any adjustments if it needed which is what most mass produced guitar builders do also but maybe by the time it was ready a Winner had been picked & this guitar was sent out to the winner... I'm only guessing & the only people who know for sure is Ben & the staff at Crimson Guitar's!.. I know Ben does these builds & I appreciate being allowed in to watch each one but after sitting through all of these uploads of each individual build, which are always quite a few for each guitar build, I was looking forward to seeing the the Full Demo of " Ben No 1 " but maybe it just slipped their minds at Crimson Guitar's... Well at least we saw it getting built & he did sort out a few issues post completion of the build with the tuning pegs not being staggered properly & building a newer & better volume knob, along with sorting out other things he might have rushed... I wish he'd incorporate more Bass Guitar Builds as so far I've only seen one which was his take on the Precision Bass Guitar but that's because I moved away from drums & rythmn guitar to play the bass as my main instrument... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... .....

When I saw that knob piece first being finished I thought "is that not too big?..." Whoops. Also Ben would benefit GREATLY from a flex shaft grinder over that rotary tool he is using at 20:45 . I was a die hard dremel fan until I tried a cheap 1/4hp flex shaft grinder. The small hand piece makes everything so much nicer. If you want to go all out pick up a foredom brand one otherwise just get the cheap $80 or $90 one branded SE and the model is like 979FSG or something. The footswitch on those has been known to be garbage but it can easily be replaced for fairly cheap.

Freehand cutting and inlaying of the logo was a joy to behold. I can never get a properly straight line out of jewelers saw, much less while cutting through 3-4mm of aluminum. And hand-supporting the Dremel? Crikey. I would just have zigzags through the headstock at that point. Awesome build.

You should fill the body cavity mostly with Styrofoam (keep weight down) and then fill remainder with cement. That way you satisfy the "movement" worry warts, and can change the name of the guitar to "stoned."

Only if you cut the Splits in at the back end. If you also cut in from the neck end, then you have to splay that out. Also by just cutting in from the bottom, you would end up with more of a fan shape but also put a lot more stress on the outer ones because they would have to move a LOT more. A Flying V would be difficult to do in this style...
@timothycormier34946 жыл бұрын

Nicely done Ben. On Bob2... you know ash is way easier to bend than maple...right? Not as pretty, granted... but then ... "Stunning Stain"!. A linear burst/fade would look cool with the whole accordion thing. Cheers.

You could've added more of that bright wood, like a V, following that backpattern to hide the electronic and also, if it went under the bridge you would get a more solid base for it.

I would have thought that the most appropriate way of running the wiring would be to effectively inlay the wires themselves into the back of the guitar where there is solid wood or nearly touching slats. This way there would be no ugly wires running through the slats and creating a completely obvious mess - in my opinion!
