Simon is very talented with a good sense of humour and a deep knowledge of physics. Gemma is so bright, hardworking funny and supportive of Simon. If anyone feels the country has difficulties I would just suggest they watch this channel which will not only give them deep sense of optimism but a seriously good giggle too. Thank you for such wonderful videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

As a Yorkshireman, I wholeheartedly approve of your tea of choice. It is my tea of choice too. Dame & Jess of Project Brupeg used flexible solar panels that can be walked on so they might be worth looking into. I can't think of a suitable title but maybe you can "generate" one.

Consider this. Plumb the generator cooling system into the nearby Caterpillar, using it's cooling system and block as a "heat sink". A second-floor radiator could be in the circuit as well. A thermostat could open or close the Cat circuit so it operates only when required.

Always great videos! If you take 6" or 8" pvc pipe, cut it to fit between the ribs (figure in the length with the caps), glue a cap on one end then fill the pipe with slag. When it's full add oil. The oil even used engine oil (free) will stop the corrosion and add weight. Then glue another cap on the open end and it's sealed, It won't rust and you can move them around with a rachet strap very easily, and it's cheap and permanent. Keep up the good work!

Having had two generators - one raw salt water cooled, and one fresh water through a heat exchanger. I can strongly recommend you use the fresh water/heat exchanger route. As for solar panels. The ones that produce the most power are not ones you can walk on. the walkable ones have a problem, when you fix them to the deck, that means that there is no means of cooling under the panel. That has a big impact on performance,

Personally I would replace it with planks like she was born to keep it as originally intended and keep it period correct. I mean, you two made the forward deck and interior looking so original and beautiful. Definitely planks would be in order....I know it costs, but.....

Another version of slag is the waste piles from coal mines, although not technically made from slag they were always called slag heaps. One of these slag heaps collapsing onto the town and school was the cause of the 1966 Aberfan disaster which killed 116 children and 28 adults.

Heads up. I've tried exhaust flex pipe and the heat wrap and it didn't work out. It eventually leaked from the micro-flexing, from the vibration, at all of the seams. I eventually ended up using a rosebud torch to bend non-gavanized tubing packed with sand. The packed sand holds the tube's shape during the bending process. Or you can buy pre-bent exhaust system tube sections and weld them together.

adding a radiator to the genni is a good idea, you will find if you want the rads to warm up quickly is to fit a electrical or a bronze lift pump fitted to the engine, I used the same idea on my fishing boats of the past to dry wet gear off in the cabin, just make sure you use lift pumps that can take the heat, cheap plastic inline pumps just downt cut it.

If you’re in salt water, I recommend a heat exchanger to keep salt water out of the Kubota. You can remote a radiator but the water pump on the engine might not be able to handle the distance (someone mentioned this) so a centrifugal pump for the radiator would be a great help. Definitely add a high water temp shutdown, the kubota’s are sensitive to scoring pistons because of high temps. I think Deep Sea has a nice module that has HWT and LOP shutdowns.

Shame the generator broke down. So you know how many hours you have put on the EcoFlow unit? Good to see the diesel make it to the boat after watching Simon build it all those videos ago. What you could do for the winter is plumb your radiator circuit through the engine (bit like fitting a heater matrix or calorifier) so there would be no need to run the boiler whilst the generator is running. Might still need the cooling radiator but it would help use the heat as well as stop it getting too hot
