My plan was to watch along; watch the episode then watch the relating podcast. I FAILED! I ended up watching ALL SIX SEASONS in a matter of days after the 2nd podcast🤦🏽♀️. I am now trying again. Watched this episode; now I am ready. ❤

Same. You're not alone. There is some shaming that people face in watching multiple episodes but it makes sense. Some episodes are really intense or have cliffhangers. It was tough to deal with the first time around because it hit too close to home or triggered anxiety. Now we have the freedom to watch how it makes sense to us.

That fight may possibly be the most realistic married couple’s fight ever put on film. Yes, there are movies with great fights but they’re still more movie-like. This fight is something else, the whole lead up, silence, looks that speak volumes, slow roll erupting into yelling contest, it’s honestly incredible scene.

The line that got me was when Jack said he was supposed to have another date that night and Rebecca said I wonder who she was and Jack said, “I never have”. Boom! That was it!

The scene, as Sterling put it, was so powerful and intense. It gave me an anxiety attack the first time and I have had to brace myself every time I rewatch it or just skip it completely. The way that it started with Jack and Rebecca acknowledging and rebutting each other’s grievances and escalated to just yelling over each other was too real. And the fact that later on we learn that Randall overheard everything. Chills. I’m hoping we get all 6 seasons on the podcast. It’s been something I look forward to every week and I recommend it to any and everyone I run into, usually when they ask if I listen to music and I say “not as much, but you know what you should listen to, my favourite podcast That Was Us”.

The big blow up….i felt everything Rebecca was saying. When she said “I have no life” as a stay at home mom of 3 and two with special needs and not much support from family…..I felt that……a lot of moms put their needs to on the back burner, because as a mom we feel everyone else’s needs are more important. Powerful scene. But Jack in the end all of the things he says of why he loves her ❤❤❤

I totally relate to being 40 with older kids. After giving them absolutely everything of me, I find myself at the point where I need to figure out what I like again and what fulfills me outside of the home. I often find myself just floating along like a ghost. Existing to maintain balance in the home while trying to figure myself out. It’s a big transition for everyone but for a woman and mom it’s adapt or stay a ghost.

The man that played jacks father was on SWAT. I’ve seen him in many shows and movies and he is excellent. Every casting choice was perfection. Sophie, jacks mom and dad, Rebecca’s mom and dad, all the way to the mailman are just perfection. I’m watching this again with my boys aged 15 n 9. Such diff perspectives but profound. Also, has provided an insight into my own family as I have three brothers. How we could all grow up in the same home with the same parents and have such diff perspectives and ideas of how we grew up. Every woman has a right to be fulfilled esp at that age where being “mom” has evolved and we as moms need to redefine each other.

Here's the thing about forehead to forehead contact: If Rebecca was doing that with one of her girlfriends before the show to get some encouragement and grounding, it wouldn't be seen as romantic or sexual at all. Women touch to support each other. So I think it's completely reasonable that she in the moment, was not remotely thinking this to be inappropriate.
