Another awesome video Spencer. Great riding and beautiful trails. If I lived out there I would spend a few dollars with Fanatic, they seem like a great crew. I'd love to get out there one day and ride.

Wow so glad I found your personal channel. You are hands down the best rider & reviewer combo out there. Here is a request for a video someday. Tweaks we can do to personalize our bike. Stem length, stem height, handlebar widths how these types of changes affects our bike. I just rode stumjumper 15 in a parking lot/neighbor hood. Surprisingly snappy, pedals great one bike quiver. It was not easy for me to lift front end. Would a higher rise bar, higher, shorter stem help me there? So far the Tallboy feels best underneath me but I think if I could lift front end easier this one could work for me. 6-1 bigger guy like you on s4 stumpy or Love my hot, sexxxxy, ravishing, dazling, tempting GODESS Tallboy.
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
Yeah that's a good idea. I'll try to make an upload about that. The S4 has a shorter chain stay, but yes the higher the bars are the easier it will be to pull up that front end. And a shorter stem couldn't hurt. Since I grow up riding in the skate park I like my stems as short as possible! I was running the stem at the highest setting for review.

Did you alter the shock at all with the bands/volume reducers or just ride it as it came ?
@SpencerAstraPOV2 ай бұрын
I just ran it stock. I had just two days with this bike.
@lifebehindbarsmtb2 ай бұрын
@ interesting. A lot of other reviews I’ve seen so far say when they added 2-3 bands in the outer can it gave it more mid stroke supper and pop. Some felt especially heavier riders that it sank too much into the travel and caused more pedal strikes/felt a bit wallowing under power. Since I’m considering the 15, switchblade, or firebird I currently have a 22 stumpy evo expert and 24 trail 429 which I love but wanna consolidate. I just want a mash up of the 2.
@SpencerAstraPOV2 ай бұрын
@@lifebehindbarsmtb For what it's worth I thought it felt great as it was configured. It's possible Fanatik - where I demo'd the bike from changed it, but probably not. Maybe I was happy with more support higher in the stroke than some other riders though.
@lifebehindbarsmtb2 ай бұрын
So torn between stumpy 15 and switchblade. I do mostly trail riding with probably 8-10 bike park trips a year so just trying to find the right fit for that split of riding. I’m a pretty playful rider so that’s why i love the 429 so much. And as a heavier rider (230lbs) I enjoy the efficiency of the 429 for the uphills to offset that weight i have to pedal up the hills with.

The Stumpjumper 15 is also available with a 160mm Öhlins configuration. Do you miss that 10mm less travel on that configuration? Or any comparison to similar bikes like the Canyon Spectral in the 160mm configuration?
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
I'd be keen to try the 160 fork, but it does climb nicely with the lower fork height!

Good one! It would be interesting to compare it to the stumpy 15 alloy, especially if suspension, brakes and tires are the same.

I bet the alloy one rips too! That could be a real sick bike to pickup

SJ 15 or the Enduro for enduro racing? I know the Enduro is old but I still feel like its super relevant.

I’d say it depends what the track is like. If it’s rough and fatiguing - the enduro.

How do you feel about this compared to the new Switchblade?
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
The Switchblade felt like it had a more supple top end of the stroke. The Stumpy feels more soft somehow - maybe frame stiffness. I think the Stumpy feels better at higher speeds too. Fairly similar bikes though. The slacker head tube angle and lower BB on the stumpy probably make it feel more stable.

Lever/Caliper on Maven should be identical in braking power, but rotor, pad and most importantly proper bedding can set them apart. That being said it’s possible the ones you have need a piston massage.
