Nothing makes me hate my bike quicker than watching one of your reviews. Hopefully an end of season sale comes soon.

I just orderd an alloy with the budget build. Looking on the website they’re selling a new stumpy 15 with a coil both fox and ohlins. And the base bike which I got with a x fusion shock. Bought a bomber cr and have springs laying around and another rockshox in-line from an e-bike ti also try that’s the same eye to eye. So it seems a coil woukd do just fine too!! Just looks like they’re selling the genie on the top end bikes

Great review how does it compare to the Trek fuel ex 9.8 xt gen 6? 🤔

I feel you on the short travel trail bikes. So much fun and capability or efficiency can be adjusted with tyre choice. Radial Alberts on a SB120; so good!

130/140 mm Stumpy owner here. 🙂 I think that compared to previous generations, the Stumpy 15 really shines in the higher-end models this year but falls short below the Expert and alloy models since it gets a bit too heavy and lacks the suspension adjustments on the rear shock, especially. Those are two key factors if you want the bike more customized in either direction XC/TrailEnduro. The lack of cable routing is also very concerning. I mean now we have great internal storage but no more cable routing... Specialized clearly streamlined its production by building fewer bike frames and models but increasing the capacity and customization of the fewer models. It's a clever move to save costs.

Good insight, it does make sense. I've heard that they are hurting on the business front. The big bike names got all of the product they ordered which turned out to be a problem when the stimulus and easy credit dried up.

Everytime I watch your video I end up buying a new bike. Your review of the Trail 429 had me at the shop ordering mine. Same with the last Stumpjunper Evo. I like as my "bigger" bike for the park and more enduro days but you got me questioning if I should order a Stumpy 15 frame.

There are so many good bikes out there now. The good news is if you have the money, they keep getting better and if not even bikes from 2 years ago are still phenomenal.

Awesome review. Curious if you've ever ridden a SB140LR and if so how does this compare to it? Stumpy 15 and SB140LR are the top 2 on my short list right now.

How would this compare to the new Epic 8 Evo Comp?
@SpencerAstraPOVАй бұрын
I'd say it's what you'd expect, the Epic Evo is faster pedaling, while being less planted, but for me I'd go with the stumpy 15 for sure if I had to chose between the two!

Nice ride, I'd love to pick up one of these to replace my Status. Unfortunately had my first serious crash injury last month, broken wrist and ribs....dying for the second surgery to be done so I can start slowly getting back on the bike. Bummed I'm missing fall riding, living through videos like this right now lol

could you fit a different shock to see if the bike feels the same without the genie shock?

I only had the bike for two days. Just a demo. So I had no chance to swap out the shock.

Any intel on how the stumpy 15 might ride and feel on a Stand up paddle board. Specifically a Riviera?
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
That high shock placement in the frame keeps the weight low on the board when inverted. Standard 15mm axel is convenient for your sturdy fork mount. 👌🏻

New RM Element dropped today. That is hopefully building off of the rocket ship the outgoing model was. Hopefully get to see you ride that in the coming months.

Nice review! I’m going on a stumpjumper 15 after riding the Troy gen 4 for 2 years. How the new stumpy ride compare to the new Troy? Pretty sure both are awesome bikes.
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
The Stumpy feels more maneuverable. I wish the Troy had a 29 inch wheel out back. Yeah I'd say the Troy was more on the stable size. The Troy's frame was stiffer - in a way where I'd prefer the ride feel of the Stumpy more. I'd probably go with the stumpy if I had my pick.

Quick comparison to the Pivot Trail 429E?
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
Steeper seat angle on the Specialized, not as quick of a climber - speed wise, The stumpy would be way more capable on steeper trails.

I'd be interesting in how this rides with something like a super deluxe ultimate or even vivid with the hydraulic bottom out. seems like that is seeking to solve a similar problem to the genie. ie linear with more support at the very end.
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
Yeah totally, I doubt those shocks would feel the same since the Genie has the changing air circuits, but I do usually prefer a Rockshox kit to Fox.
@bkstancil2253 ай бұрын
I've ridden it with a Vivid and it preformed really well; can be tuned to feel very similar to the ride quality the Genie provides depending on how many volume spacers you run. Honestly, the ride feel between the Vivid and Genie were more similar than I was initially expecting. The kinematics of the SJ15 make for a great bike regardless of which of those two shocks you opt for.

Super cool videos (both parts). You have a new subscriber mate!! So what are you thoughts about racing enduro on a Stumpy 15? I currently own an Orbea Rallon 160-170 (Fox Float X2 - Fox 38), I'm seriously considering to change that bike for the new Stumpy (maybe the alloy one with Fox 38 160mm front). My objetive is to race with that bike (repeat TransMadeira or try TransNomad this year), I'm a bit scared of going from 160 to 145mm, you know on long stages you might not be as fresh and might need that extra help from the bike. So I'm super interested on your thoughts about that. Cheers mate
@SpencerAstraPOV2 ай бұрын
That's a tough call. I'd probably only race it on courses where I wasn't worried about arm fatigue. For courses where you're worried more about tight turns and popping over doubles it might be the move.

@ thanks mate! That’s interesting. I’ll take into account when deciding what to do about my bike! Cheers mate

What are your thoughts on the bike not having cable derailleur compatibility? I have the stumpy15 expert and sometimes wonder if I’d want to go back to a cable. Otherwise it’s a really good bike
@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
It's pretty concerning. You're pretty locked into the wireless setup. That does make the alloy version more attractive! The last gen stumpy alloy was incredible.

@SpencerAstraPOV3 ай бұрын
Yeah, the stumpy is more tight feeling - like a shorter travel bike. But in a similar vane with the wheel base and chainstay. The Firebird feels much softer and ready to plow.

Too many negs w mandatory electronic shifting and a very expensive shock in its first year of production for me. I have ridden Stumpys and Enduros for years and been burned by too many times by Spesh w proprietary stuff. Moved to Rocky Mountain and bought a 2023 Instinct. I hope you can demo a 2024 model with a killer build on your channel or Freehub.

Yeah it feels like a page out of their old book - going with proprietary tech.

@@SpencerAstraPOV "Innovate or die!" 😎 They will have cable routing on the alloy launch and lesser spec shock selections. They gotta hook those Stumpy guys w $ for awhile first. That sucks a carbon version seems to be not in their plans. I think Rocky Mtn. bikes are better sorted out bikes anyway. I really like having all the main pivots in suspension design under my body and in front of the seat tube. It makes the rear triangle stiffer. No engineer, just based on feel.
