Thank you Robert! We did indeed travel up the Hood Canal to Port Townsend in the next week's episode, then on the ferry across to Whidbey Island where we stayed at Fort Casey. Hi Mike! Glad that you enjoyed this one, thank you very much. We were boondocking last week in central WA near Lake Wenatchee, and this week we're in SE WA in the Blue Mountains. There are a few episodes to come in between, however, including next week from Port Townsend/Fort Casey/Whidbey Island, and the following week which was a really pleasant surprise for us, La Conner.

When I lived and worked up there in the 80’s, I always told myself that this is the place to own a boat! Fortunately, I when I worked on tugs there, I was able to enjoy sailing all around the islands in the sound. I’m surprised the Olympia Brewery closed down. That was also where they made Hamms beer. Is this the same place that is next to the highway or was this an older site? Casino was kind of pricey, but at least you were able to use the facilities. Nice shot of the old “Shay” locomotive. Thanks! Ram 👍🏼👍🏾
@GrandAdventure

Nope Ram, that's the same place. As a former sailor, I had a bit of sailboat envy walking around those marinas -- it would be a gorgeous place to sail.

@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure Жыл бұрын
We did the Olympic Peninsula back in 2018 and loved it, although we didn't get up to Hurricane Ridge at that time. We thought about returning this time, but after a couple of months traveling the coast, starting all the way down in Sonoma County, CA and working our way slowly north, we made a decision to start heading inland this time. We'll get back to the OP for sure. And thank you for your service! I grew up right near the massive sub base in Groton, CT.

Thanks Marc... someone just said they were just in this area recently and didn't find much in terms of dispersed camping... which would explain why you stayed at a casino. I actually like these kinds of spots for all the amenities they provide. What you paid with your GS discount wasn't too bad. Of course, the sea food is going to be fantastic everywhere along the northern west coast. I was in this area back in 2002 on my honeymoon in July. And there is some kind of tree that gives off a pollen that makes the cornea of my eyes swell so that I can't see very well. Fortunately, we were in transit to Vancouver, BC to meet a cruise ship. As soon as I got away from the Seattle area my eyes recovered. Seems like you may have already moved away from the west coast by this time. Where are you now? Gord

Thanks Gord! Right now we are in the Blue Mountains, boondocking in the far southeastern corner of Washington. Where we go next is anyone's guess!
@gorrdd
@gorrdd Жыл бұрын
@@GrandAdventure I had the feeling you may have migrated southeast. With the heat wave continuing, there aren't allot of choices but to stay in the mountain ranges. This heat is supposed to continue until at least September, which is another month at least. I have the sense that you will begin to head on over to Colorado and stay in the high country over there. I don't see you making it down to Texas this year. October and November is supposed to be ok down here. But who knows... Gord Gord
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure Жыл бұрын
@@gorrdd honestly, our goal this year is to have as little plan as possible. Right now the temperatures here are actually slightly below normal for a few days. But you're right, this time of year we need to stick to elevation wherever possible.
