Speaking of standards and excuses. Passed my IFT, aced the ASVAB, but the moment I needed some paperwork sent up for a waiver I’ve had two different recruiters ghost me. During my IFT I heard them complaining about not finding ready recruits. Minimal effort in development sessions (at least here in the Midwest). I’ve went to SOCOM athlete hell day for development. I think reality has hit me, there is nothing wrong with the American culture, it’s the military culture that’s gone lax, and blamed it on the civilians. My paperwork is good, and my fitness and mind are ready to go. I shouldn’t be the one holding my recruiters accountable. Where’s the leadership? A good leader can walk into a high school gym and inspire recruits from nothing.

@@OnesReadyPrior service back injury. No structural issues. Was muscle strain from having a weak (really weak) back and wearing armor. I got checked and cleared from a private doctor. It resolved when I got in shape. As far as I know I just needed my paperwork sent to Lackland. I’ve been quiet about this because I feel like I have no ability to ask what’s up, because recruiters generally know each other, and I’m trying not to burn bridges. I understand the community. But I want a chance and I don’t see any reasons why communication has been so bad. I’ve done my part. Wouldn’t be a big deal but I’ve got a wife and kids waiting in limbo. Sold my house and rented partially in preparation for this transition, to make it easier on my wife when I’m gone. I’m serious about it, and I’ve put maximum effort into doing it right. I keep holding out hope.. maybe the recruiter is on leave. But the way communication was dropped it just doesn’t seem that way.

Keep reaching out intermittently. Be patient and understanding that the recruiters have more to do than just you. They likely see you as a time sink because of the waiver requirement. Keep advocating for yourself and reaching up and out until they give you a shot. If they see that you’ve exhausted your resources, your prepared physically, and have the paperwork completed properly the right people will help you.

Great episode! I love how people can write an article spewing crap, but if he was to come on the show, I’m sure his tune would change when having to support his (“argument”) 😂

Imagine if the generals have actually been doing advanced logistics to support missions as the primary duty of their career. That is basically what starred officers do, right, support the mission logistics? Why should they be pilots who know how to fly planes or dogfight when they just want to fly planes and dogfight? Peaches is right about making a track for pilots that would allow them to stay O3/04 for their whole career.

Hot take. For primary prevention of fat body syndrome send drill sergeants with strength and conditioning certifications as liaisons to assist with instructing PE at all grade levels in public schools especially elementary and highschool.

I am Prior enlisted aircrew with the goal of finishing my degree and going CRO. I’m worried that they might try and disqualify me since I have VA disability and one of them is for “unspecified anxiety disorder to include insomnia”. Never had an episode or took any medication. Just had a couple 30 min visits with the VA and was good to go. What are the waivers like for the Special Warfare community? Have you seen prior service with VA disability ratings join Special Warfare ? Love the podcasts and all the information I’m getting from you guys. Thank you.

I’m working on getting a waiver for VA disability. May have to stop receiving pay for it, and I’m good with that. My issue has been getting a recruiter to do the work to obtain the waiver. For whatever reason. But from what I’ve been told, it’s possible. Start the process of receiving all your medical documents from when you were in service. It took me over 8 months to get it all.

@@Logan91S yes I don’t mind loosing the pay either , I’d rather be in service. Just wondering if AF is gonna be reluctant to granting waivers. Did you have any major issues on your disability claims that you had to apply for waivers or did you just have like the tinnitus and normal stuff that we all get? Good luck and if you remember , let me know how it goes 💪🏼🤙🏽

Do you know how dumb it is that I can't do 90% of jobs because of slight colorblindness that doesn't affect anything I do ever? Airman, what color is that? green. Airman, what color is that? green? Ok, airman what color is that? green. I have 3 airmen here that can testify that the color im looking at is infact green sir.

Pay is THE biggest thing hurting the recruiting crisis and they need to raise the pay dramatically for specifically the Air Force and afspecwar. I will not provide sources or data, and definitely do not just want more money.
