Can outsiders from various Christian faith communities such as Dutch Reformed or Mennonites become Amish? If so, how? Through marriage, or other rituals ? The issue of consanguinity must be a concern as these communities have existed in Pennsylvania, since the 1600s. The Mennonite communities in Southwestern Ontario Manitoba can readily be identified by family names such as Neufeld, , Dyck/Dick/Dueck, Klassen, Weibe, Peters . What I'd like to know is how do the Amish expand their gene pool to prevent health problems stemming from consanguinity in their relatively closed societty?

@giovannideventuri450623 күн бұрын
There is no association with Quakers. The Amish are Anabaptist which were mainly from Switzerland. That country is split geographically and culturally into 3 sections; German, French and Italian. From other sources I found that everything is bible based, from earlier episodes I concluded, that you didn't really study even Amish history, which was a bit surprising. After leaving the Amish, did you and others picked up a book about biology, history, etc., to catch up a bit? Second question would be about being religious. It seems like that everyone who left the Amish, stayed relegious and keeps going to some church. Is it very unusual to become atheist/agnostic after leaving the Amish?

So you discuss Gay people in the Amish community, and immediately have to try to villainize them as murderers. Gay people have been around since the beginning of the human race, homosexuality exists in that animal kingdom, there are definitely gay people in the Amish community, they aren't announcing it, because of what would happen to them if they did. Not believing there are, is just plain ignorance. And thinking they'd have to be murderers is just plain old homophobia.

I had better rescue mine early each year, and only think of my cooking style. Then I’ll be okay! I always learn something new about Amish life, and I think it’s a good thing. People who know nothing about the Amish say things are wrong. We are Christian Catholics and we hear all the time people saying that we worship statues and Worship Mary, and all sorts of foolish things that we do not do. I’m reading a book by Lunden Roberts who had Hunter Biden’s baby daughter. I really wanted to know what went on in her belief system that told her it was okay to have a baby with this high profile man who was already married with children. Fascinating to see how she can morally just place the issue off to the side, and never really deal with it. Interesting book.
