Ep: 46 Respecting Floor Finish Dry Times Diversey 2 Minute Drill

Is it ok if I just apply 2 products: Terranova and Complete I will polish the floor with Terranova for conducting the periodic floor maintenance. Then I will apply 2 layers of Complete for floor finish. I still do the daily cleaning with floor cleaning chemical. Could I apply another layers of Complete over the old ones without stripping the floor after 2-3 weeks? Or I have to remove the old floor finish first before putting a new one.

There are several unanswered questions in your comment. First we are not sure what type of floor you are working on in this scenario. Two, our products do not adhere to competitors products well or visa versa. Three we no longer offer Complete floor finish, but a similar product such as our Vectra floor finish should have 3-4 coats, not two. Four, to follow the best practice we would recommend starting over, strip it, clean it, make sure all contamination is off the floor and then re-apply 3-4 coats. That said it all depends on what you are looking for as far as the final look, what you are willing to do as far as time and labor and what machines you have to work with(high speed or low speed or both).

I’ve heard the expression “blooming” in another video. What exactly is it?

Blooming is typically caused by applying too many coats in one day. High humidity can also play a factor. The solvent coming out of the finish causes what appears to be haze on the surface of the floor. Solution: Typically, blooming can be removed by buffing the area. In the future, apply no more than 3-4 coats in a day and be sure to allow additional dry time when high humidity is a factor.
