I'm a fixed wing private pilot and I looked up the requirements in the FARs last month. This is a great video because I like to hear what your input is. I'm thinking the last and only time I got to fly an R22, it will take me 5 to 10 hours just to learn how to hover the helicopter, it was ugly. I'm in Ohio and looking forward to starting the transition. I like hearing you say, back to the basics.

If I have a Commercial pilot with Multi engine and IR in Europe and want to get a Helicopter add on, how can I do it?

You forgot to mention the one important exception: add-on helicopter for someone who already possesses a rotorcraft rating at the same certificate level. See FAR 61.63(c)(3). The savings for a commercial-gyroplane pilot transitioning to helicopter can be significant. Discussing the benefits of this would make for a good video all by itself. I would also be interested to hear your experiences with pilots transitioning from gyroplanes. Do they have an easier time of it than fixed wing pilots?

Good comment, I am a sport pilot gyroplane with about 150 hours gyro. I also have my private pilot with around 400 hours. Just started my helicopter add on rating and was told by a DPE it’s basically demonstrating proficiency as I have my cross country and night time in rotorcraft. Flying in an enstrom and loving it.
