Slapshot was HUGE when I was young. I remember the first time me and my brothers saw "Slapshot" we laughed a thousand times. Some of our best memories and our favorite movie growing up.

My dad took me to see "Slap Shot" for my 14th birthday. Still my favorite birthday ever. The Hanson's are forever a part of cinematic history and it's well deserved. Side note: I was lucky enough to play hockey with Killer Carlson who you can see in this video. Damn nice guy.

What a fantastic story behind the cult classic Slapshot, truly an art form of original tough old school hockey and comical one-liners. The Blazing Saddles of the rink.

While he was in the Birmingham, Alabama area playing for the Birmingham Bulls ... he also played summer softball. He played first base and was the clean up hitter. He would hit home runs straight up and out of the park . Great guy and unbelievable athlete.

Slap Shot was about the Beauce Jaros of the NAHL. All the stunts, going into the stands, brawling, cops etc...were from BEAUCE. The team at the end who kicks their asses were wearing BEAUCE Uniforms, because that's what we did. NEVER lost a fight or game against Johnstown Jets.Paul Newman HAD to use them as Beauce were still in the play offs.
@peachman19704 жыл бұрын
Bullshit...Slap Shot is based on the 1974-75 Johnstown Jets...from stories Jets player Ned Dowd told his sister Nancy Dowd who wrote the story. Beauce Jaros did not even exist until the following season. Many of the Chiefs players were actually Johnstown Jets...Jeff and Steve Carlson, Dave Hanson, Guido Tenesi, Jean Tetreault, Ron Docken...Ned Dowd played Oggilthorpe (based on Bill Goldthorpe) and Denis Lemieux is based on Louis Levasseur. The year the movie was filmed...Beauce Jaros actually folded in December...the club did not exist...LOL. To say Slap Shot is based on Beauce Jaros is absolutely laughable...you must be new to hockey.
@williambyers67314 жыл бұрын
@@peachman1970 # 14 Beauce I was there and you can KMA. Ask Dave Hanson, fought him in Beauce and won.

@@williambyers6731 The movie is NOT about Beauce Jaros. The movie is absolutely based on the 74-75 Johnstown Jets. Most of the players on Charlestown Chiefs were based on Johnstown Jets. The writer of the screenplay was Nancy Dowd....her brother Ned Dowd played for Jets....he told her all of the stories. You are the only person who thinks the movie is about Beauce Jaros....a club that lasted 1.5 seasons. I have heard about Dave Hanson, the Carlsons, Guido Tenesi, Docken, Tetreault, etc....but never ever heard about you...you are not in the movie. LOL. Have a nice evening.

@@peachman1970 You're just a frustrated wanna be. And some of that is true, but all the action in Syracuse, cops, etc..was us.. We were supposed to do the movie but were in the play offs and JJ weren't. And BTW, never heard of you, WHERE DID YOU PLAY ?
@peachman19704 жыл бұрын
@@williambyers6731 LOL...again....did Ned Dowd play for Beauce Jaros or Johnstown Jets? What was Nancy Dowd's connection to Beauce Jaros? How about you post on the Slap Shot Facebook page that the movie was based on Beauce Jaros and not Jownstown Jets? You will get laughed at. How about you tell the Carlsons or Dave Hanson the movie is about you and not them. You are a joke....trying to take credit for being the inspiration for the movie. I checked your stats on hockey DB....for a guy who was drafted by both WHA and NHL....you had a rather pathetic two season minor league career. I will post your name on the Slap Shot page on Facebook....Dwane....and I guarantee nobody will know your name. Take care.
