A very nice apartment. The entrance is rather tight though. There’s a nice bathroom but sigh… no toilet paper storage unless you use the space under the sink. The actual bath is spacious and you can dry clothes as well. The living area is so bright, two lovely big windows for ventilation. The shutters should block out some heat during summer. The rent is very reasonable, yes, another winner!

I like this apartment. The kitchen is seperated from the living area, and there is a proper wash basin in the toilet. The living area is square, so planning the furniture layout is easy. As there already is a built-in closet, and space are already allocated for both washing machine and fridge, there are less things to worry about when planning the furniture layout.

This is one of the better micro apartments you have shown, Usui. I notice that there seem to be more sensible ones on the market now, with realistic storage options and room for things like a washer and a fridge accounted for. I love the seperate bathing area with a tub. This one does seem to be quite private and that's lovely.
@whyme79966 ай бұрын
The separation of the living and cooking space is great. The door allows one to get a sudden openness feeling after the tight kitchenette area..even if the open space is very small. It puts the mind into a more calm state. Plus, murphy beds are awesome and can be part of a couch and storage system that just folds down to sleep. I also like a sofa sleeper or klik-klak but they require making the bed every night before sleeping.

I LOVE this apartment! Having all the green plants outside the windows, instead of seeing just the wall of another building, is awesome!! The safety shutters are nice too, and so is the closet, and having space for a fridge, and the bathtub being separate from the toilet WITH a dryer and hanging rod for laundry. And the price is good, if you don't mind the longer commute. What a perfect little apartment!

I like this apartment, there is very little wasted space. The soft focus green plants (bamboo?) outside the windows is very soothing. It's very interesting to learn that Murphy beds are not available in Japan. If anything, I'd assume Japanese designers would take the Murphy bed concept and perfect it with Japanese ingenuity. However, Murphy beds do need to be installed and attached to the wall studs, perhaps Japanese building codes doe not make that easy to accomplish. I really enjoy your videos!

Firstly, ground floor apartment yeah!! New build and nice bathroom despite the oddly rough floor storage area. Guess you could put a small storage container down there (?). The closet is deep though not wide, so that's not too bad. I really like the shutters though, just in case you have disagreeable weather. The rent is amazing for the space and I think a single person could live there quite comfortably.

I really like this one. In Taiwan there are many small studio apartments (called tàofáng 套房 here) about this size, such as my own which is 23.2 sqm/250 sqft, including a small balcony. However, so many of them have no kitchen area, and 99.9% have a shower only, no bathtub. Japan seems to put a nice emphasis on including a cooking area and often a tub, so I would live in this place in a heartbeat.
@agiles64836 ай бұрын
I am becoming more hopeful as we see new builds. This micro apartment has been arranged thoughtfully. While in the US we are unfamiliar with an entrance that begins with the bathroom, washing machine and continues through the kitchen area, I have noticed this arrangement is more common in Japan, even in larger apartments. I like seeing a shower/tub combination with a vanity area for the wash basin, even if small, rather than the only sink being in the kitchen. The living space is large, a rectangle with an open space of about 100 square feet, so the bed, desk, comfortable chair and television can all be accommodated. Unlike many other apartments, there is a closet, which means there is no need to have a freestanding wardrobe. There is abundant light from the windows, frosted for privacy on the first floor. I like that out the window I see the bright green of the bamboo behind the fence of the next property. I wish the shoe cupboard were a little wider to use the horizontal space and extended to the ceiling with shelves in the the upper part to make best use of the space. A cupboard or shelves should be installed above the washing machine so that space is better utilized for storage of laundry products etc. In the bathroom there is wasted space, so shelves above the toilet could hold toilet paper, towels and other necessary items. I wish the vanity mirror were a medicine cabinet to hold skincare, dental care, etc. This kitchen has room to cook, so I might find a removable cutting board that fits over the gas burners, to make a flat space for food preparation. I would have continued the upper kitchen cabinets above the space for a small/medium refrigerator that would still have space on top for a microwave or air fryer and rice cooker. I love imagining how these apartments can be arranged to make enjoyable and comfortable places to live.
@DawnDavidson6 ай бұрын
Agiles6484: You and I think similarly. I was thinking about an étagère, a shelf/cabinet that is made to sit over the toilet to offer storage space above it. There is plenty of room in this bathroom for that, and it wouldn’t interfere with the vent. That vent may be why they didn’t install a cupboard there. I don’t think the narrowness of the shoe cupboard is a problem. You could store an umbrella in that narrow spot by the door, or maybe a broom. Not as nice as having it fully enclosed, but still usable space. I would also put one of those dish drainer / storage racks over the sink, since they didn’t do that for you. There’s not a lot of space above, so some of them might not fit. But I think you could find one that would, which would save the counter space for food preparation. I agree that it would have been nice to add storage over both the washer and the fridge, but those could be added by the tenant as well, at least in an open shelving version. The unfinished underfloor storage was funny, and I laughed when you stopped the music then, Usui! 😂 The closet is surprisingly small inside compared to what it looks like from the front. I hope there is plumbing back there or something. It would be disappointing if they had just enclosed empty space that was otherwise useable. Overall, a nice apartment for the price, and fairly well designed. I wish I could find something as reasonable here in the US!

This place is perfect honestly I don't think it gets better with micro appartements, and the price is very decent. It has everything: a separate kitchen, a separate bathroom with shower and bathtub, space for washing machine and fridge, separate bed room / lounge that's filled with light and spacious enough for a bed, a desk and a lounge area, on top of that a large cupboard for storage. And it's first floor; you have access to the little terrace outside easily even if not from the inside. The security devices are provided too. You get ventilation and ac. This scores every thing for a very decent price. If I were you, I'd jump on the occasion. I think the location (not Tokyo) helps getting better housing for a better price, 30mins from Tokyo in train is a great deal with the station being 6mins away on foot.

Your trip to Nitori had me googling for storage options. There are free standing multi-tiered shelving for washers and toilets available at Wayfair. Some come with a counter top and some come with cabinets. It might not fit in the washer space of that particular apartment because that space is walled in but it would fit the toilet. You could place it over the washer at your current apartment. That's the benefit, if it doesn't fit one space, put it over the other. This would give you added shelf space without drilling holes in the wall which I know you're not permitted to do, and without taking up precious floor space. There are also expandable shelves that you could place in that walled space for the washer. The under floor storage is doable, it just needs to be cleaned.
@ahumanbeing8126 ай бұрын
8:45 - 8:52 The underfloor storage is located in a weird space: outside the shower and right next to the toilet. And, it is unfinished as well! Even if it is cleaned up and polished, I personally still wouldn't store "daily goods" there, due to the fact that it is right next to the toilet. I noticed that there is no storage space for toilet paper above the toilet. If they would clean it up and finish the work, the underfloor storage could be an ideal place for Usui-san to store toilet paper. 😄 14:56 That is a reasonable arrangement of the furniture. One thing I would add to is that, since you want to put a TV stand by the windowless wall, try to get a multi-functional, extendable TV stand with drawers that you can both use as storage and TV stand. That wall is 3.7 meters long. It would be a waist of the space if you just put a small TV stand there. Or, if you think that there is already enough storage space for this micro-apartment and that you don't need more, you can put a computer desk next to the TV stand. I noticed that in the micro-apartment you currently live in, there is a desk that serves as your workstation, but furniture the arrangement shown at 14:57 did not consider a workstation. This micro-apartment measures 2.7 meters wide. I don't think you would be able to have an armchair and a coffee table as shown. You may be able to keep the armchair but not the coffee table. Hers are some suggestions: the side where you put the armchair measures 3.7 meters long. With the bed - which is about 90 centimeters wide - where it is, there is still 2.8 meters of empty space. Besides the armchair, why don't you consider a small dining table as well? 😉 The suggestions above are completely my opinions, but they would allow you to have a dining area, living area, workstation, and sleeping area -- all in this 18.83 squared meters micro-apartment. When it comes to dealing with compact space, it is all about utilizing every squared inch and meeting the user's priorities. The rent -- $435 USD per month -- is very reasonable. Besides, another nice thing about this apartment is that, there is space, a metal fence, and lots greeneries between it and the neighboring buildings. That ensure proper privacy. I will recommend renting this apartment. Thanks for sharing!

I find this apartment fantastic for this price. I thought it will cost 600 or 700 € but I think the distance to the city center is too large. I also like the environment. It looks a bit rural. The best for me is that there is a door between the room and kitchenette and bathroom. A terrace would be perfect but maybe in summer someone can sit a little bit outside when nobody looks. 😅 I would place the furniture different than you did in the video. I would place the bed with the head at the wall where you placed it with the feet and where the fridge stands I would place a chair or small sofa (one seat) on the other side of the wall in the room if you know what I mean. So you only kust go around the corner to grab a cool drink. 😅 Then a small table in front of the chair/sofa and at the end of the bed a small bookshelf. Where the shoe rack stands I also would place a small shelf if you can do this. There is too much space spoiled. On front of the other window I would place a chair and a writing desk and that's it. 😊 Definitely one of the best apartments and in my top 3. Only the 30 minutes to Shinjuku are a bit long but the environment looks very nice and if there are enough shops and restaurants I would not miss Shinjuku. 😊 I always begin to dream of a new apartment when I watch these videos. 😅

Tiny entry, shoe storage, decent kitchen area, cozy toilet/bath with good laundry dryer, decent sized closet. I'd have a small refrigerator and put a counter on top of it with shelves above. Bunk bed, desk under bed, sofa opposite closet, protection TV. Yeah, I like it.

I would also get a loft bed to make double use of the same floor space. Put it along the longest wall (where the TV stand is) to block the light as little as possible. Plus many loft beds offer some storage shelves as part of the support structure so you wouldn't need that unfinished underfloor storage as much. With a larger monitor on the desk, you can use that for a TV also, so there's room for a comfy chair and small table.

Our kids room has Murphy bed bunkbeds and a separate single Murphy bed that both have desks when the beds are folded up. They are really useful, but even with counterweight systems, can be a bit heavy if you aren’t very strong.

This is really nice and bright and a clever use of space. I liked the toilet roll in the closet 🧻🤣

This is one of my favorites I've seen. A camp/portable chair eiggt outside one of the windows would be perfect. A sofa chair or recliner chair also, instead of a regular bed, would allow a little more space, although this is larger and has the space.

You have shown us so many apartments- thanks! This one is close to perfect, but I get the impression, that you can‘t decide which one to take…

I really like this one, if they would finish the under floor storage. Much more open, bigger bathroom and you can always add toilet paper storage...

For under 500 this could solve so much homelessness in Australia!

When you are renting in Japan, are you allowed to hang things on the wall? Specifically, are you allowed to make holes in the wall to attach things like shelves? If you are allowed to this is a fantastic layout for such s small place! It would allow you to customize storage for shoes, a jacket, kitchen items, and bathroom items. You could still add customized storage without putting holes in walls, too. It just might be more sturdy to be able to attach storage. I agree with many of the other comments that this arrangement is very ideal for the space. The bathroom is not squished. The kitchen is fine. The living room / bedroom shape is fantastic for different furniture arrangements. Even having 2 windows is amazing to allow good airflow and light! This design is best!

Excellent! The ratio of footage/filling of the apartment/price is very good!

I really like this one! I'd put some portable steps up to a window and others on the other side and take over the outside area. Love the Lantana shots (second flower) - they practically take over Houston in the summer.

First micro apartment with a mailbox like that. Neat! It seems like a nice enough place, even if it is a bit rough around the edges. You're not struggling for space like with some of the others you've showcased on this channel. I like it.

I think this is a lovely place for the price, my friend! I love that you can open both windows and get a nice crosswind. I’m sure you could probably put a little chair outside and create a fake terrace! 🎉

I like this one. Enough closet space and room to decorate. The Kanagawa prefecture is a very nice area. 😊
