I been backpacking mountaineering and rock climbing for 20 years. You guys are starting to really learn from us. I just got in to hunting. I’m using zero camo and all mountaineering gear. Works awesome.

Brian, I'm so impressed with everything that Stone Glacier has been putting out and I'm excited for their new products. I have made the transition to wear NO CAMO as I don't see the point. Stone just caters to the ultra lightweight backcountry folks(every ounce lost is freedom gained), their packs are so sweet and for that I am grateful. Seek is also top notch when it comes to shelters, no one comes close in my opinion. Tell Lampers thanks for doing the R&D for Stone as well as yourself, those guys are so cool and just genuine dudes. Great feedback on the trek poles, it's the little insights that enhance my performance. Sissy Stix are changing the game, tell Brice they are just top notch. Great video!-Steve

I use the SoloHntr bino harness, always a bit careful closing it with the magnetic closure noise, but when I’m within bow range, never use bino’s anyways, rangefinder only. It’s low profile, lightweight and you can add a phone holder to it, but I don’t like it…. Too much crap on my chest. All the others you mention are bulkier and gimmicky in my opinion. I also bought the same larger model for my 12x50’s. Love it too.

Been using the Outdoor Vision bino harness. Has everything you were looking for. Fully enclosed, opens forward, very compact, built in rain fly. Excellent rangefinder pouch.
@dylanstein71394 жыл бұрын
I think a bino harness to check out, if you haven’t already, is the Outdoor Vision bino harness. The other guy I hunt with has one and Im unsure right now but I might like it more than my Sitka harness. Another great podcast again, I love when we can hear from guys like you that interact with companies and also test lots of gear. Keep it up!

Try the Hillsound microspikes. I use them in coastal BC in wet grass and walking on wet blowdown, as well as ice, of course. Hillsound has 18 spikes compared to 12 and the spikes are longer which is key in grass and brush. Tiny bit heavier but they also have a velcro strap over the forefoot.

Just harvestes my first black bear over the weekend and I am glad i bought a goat knife! I used my benchmade altitude for the gnarlier cuts but set it to the side for the most part since i got tired of resharpening it lol, those bear hides are tough..

How do you only have 50K subscribers? Always love the content. This review/overview of the Sissy Stixx answered some of my questions on why those. Can't wait to grab a set and break em in on my upcoming hunts. Keep up the amazing work and thank you!

Made the switch from AGC to the new Marsupial enclosed. It's got some stretch to it and is quieter material on the exterior. It has some other upgrades to it from the version you're rocking (deeper side pockets and molle bottom). I believe you'd like it even more.

Question- if plastic isnt your favorite thing (mine either) to take out to the mountains, what might you propose would be something good to pack your food in?
@johnsimonelli99884 жыл бұрын
Brian, If you use your walking sticks properly you will be surprised how much better you will feel. I held them the same way, and then I saw some guy on youtube explain why those straps are there. They take all the pressure of your hands and if you hold them at a 70 degree angle going uphill they actually push you up the hill!!

I run that same marsupial bino rig with my vortex hds and rangefinder. Love that system. Super durable and great fit. Very high quality and fits very well while hunting all day and glassing. 😃👍🏻 great video!

Great Video, one suggestion would be to add links to the items in the video in the description. That way buyers can go straight to them easily & are more likely to purchase direct instead of through another retailer where you may not get your share from the buyer using your code. Just a thought.

Brian, another great pod cast! I’ve got two questions: 1: What is your SOP (standard operating procedure) for came care once you get back to the truck, for the drive home, and once home? For give me if this has been covered in another podcast. 2: You said that you where able to save around 5lbs off of last years pack weight, what was the total cost for those saved pounds?

I've always used plastic Nalgene bottles, which work fine for me. My girlfriend got excited because they were the old BPA plastic, so replaced them with new BPA free though she still doesn't trust ANY plastic. I'm not concerned about insulation/hot/cold. Is safety from potential harmful plastic part of the equation for using stainless steel or just a general dislike for plastic? If you think there's still a concern for harm using BPA free plastic (like my girlfriend does), I'll re-tool to stainless. Thank you for your input on this!

I missed what gator model you use and like the best OR? What model? Have you checked out the gravity bag filtration? I think it’s by platypus. It’s awesome. Crazy how you and so many guys prefer a bottle over a hydration bladder. I have had mine freeze if I forget to blow air back in the tube after I drink. But I haven’t had the actual bag freeze. I keep it in my sleeping bag at night if it’s below freezing. Have you tried the kuiu harness? If so what’d you think? Thank you for the podcast!

I'm sure you've covered this before, but what battery bank are you trusting on these hunts to keep your phone/camera charged? I've tried a couple and maybe its just bad luck but they seem to stop working or the cord spazzes out and stops recognizing my devices and refusing to charge.

How are the sheep feet working out for you? Have you had time to test them out or not? Trying to decide if I want to order some or not.
@gb33784 жыл бұрын
@Eric Rose Figured I'd weigh in. They are great if you needn't correct anything going on with your feet--collapsed arches, etc... If you have some feet issues I'd suggest you see a podiatrist who can take a mold and then have inserts made that help to correct any issues you have. I had to go the podiatrist route, which is about the same price--less the doctor visit. Again, nothing bad to say about the product just depends on your personal reason for getting them. Hope this helps.

Have you tried a freight forwarding company like MyUS? I have used them for a couple of years now and the postage costs to Aus. are pretty reasonable. If you can get gear sent free within the US, the overall cost is not too bad. It's the conversion rate on the US dollar that is the killer, though.
@huntnut86354 жыл бұрын
@ keith Rigby. I will look into it. It’s usually our crap dollar in NZ thats the killer
