This lady gnome speed sculpt completes the pair of gnomes for my homage of David the Gnome. One of my biggest inspirations has been animation and fairytales. That was cemented early in my youth by the introduction of three shows which aired on Nickelodeon: Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, The Littl' Bits, and David the Gnome (Grimm's is my absolute favorite).
I had a lot of fun sculpting this latest figure. Having the chance to draw on core inspirations of my life always makes me feel very fulfilled.

What I love about this style of figure is that it should be super easy to mold & cast yourself in resin. No tricky overhangs and holes to navigate. The gnome looks super cool, too. Oh and your daughter is a genius

I know the show called Grimm... it's a detective that tracks down humans that are sort of animal.monsters. honestly one of the best things I've ever watched.excellent writers ❤

One project I want to start working on are some modern/contemporary soldiers. Would be great to have a tutorial like this that goes into making humans out of single posts, especially if it's meant to have the arms done separately so you can customize. I don't have the space and facilities at home to do something like resin or pewter casting, so simple sculpts that can be cast with Bluestuff/Oyumaru would be amazing!

You should give it a try. I probably won't ever do one on modern soldiers as that isn't something I'm interested in sculpting. But you can apply the same principles you see here.

Amazing video! I think it's difficult though even if you make it look easy haha lots of back and forth until you get the shape you are looking for

Awesome video!! Great to see more stuff! A simple sculpt huh? hmmm, well simple often means big blocky shapes. So perhaps a small Rock or earth elemental? maybe a beetle dude, like in hollow knight? kobolds?

@@TalentHouseAd Something like this really doesn't take as much time as you might think. I like to challenge myself to do it over a weekend. If you're in the US the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday would be a perfect time!

MR. Mason. please can I ask for some advice, I have some very big aspirations . I plan on buying green stuff and maybe a few alternatives and making my sculpts. I am watching you and one or two others to learn as best as I can. but I want to sell some. so what would the best way of making exact copies of my sculpts be? ideally I'd like to sell them in pieces on sprue like warhammer. with options to change arms heads and weapons. I've looked and looked. but I can't seem to work our how I would go from first finished sculpt. to selling it on sprue. I know I ask alot . maybe I am dumb. but I know you are very skilled and knowledgable. I'd be eternally gratefully for any advice. im happy to talk privately if you prefer. And I must say I loved the way you made the armour on the video I just watched. Such skill. Thank you for any help :^)

Selling miniatures on plastic injection molded sprues is VERY expensive. There are some options for doing plastic injection molding at home, but the labor takes a lot of time and it isn't as nice as working with a professional factory. I recommend starting with pewter or resin castings. You can still make multipart miniatures, but this is easier to start with (whether you are doing it yourself, or working with a manufacturer). Hope that helps!

@@TomMasonSculptor thank you brother. anything helps :^) I'd like to start a small business. and plastic injections it seems must be out of my possible range. I want to allow people to enjoy their minis as I have. but cheaper if possible . spread the love and joy :^)
