Extraordinary, again! Very wise of you Matthew to put in contrast the bad and good days of bikepacking. Everytime I cycled through rain and bad weather, it just made me more appreciative of the beautiful sunny days. I am pretty sure I would choose the islands if I were to cycle in Norway. Thanks again for a wonderful vlog. I will be anxiously waiting for the next one.
@matthewnorway3 жыл бұрын
Well said Jaque, cycling allows you to appreciate them sunny day so much more after bad weather. The next few videos will demonstrate that in even more ways.

Hi Matthew! Inspired by your bike trip over Senja, I took my friend from USA on a CAR trip along the Tourist Route yesterday, in all its winter splendor. Beautiful also in the summer, but watching the Northern lights from our campground “put the icing on the cake.». Will be back in the summer months to bike, hopefully soon. Thanks, Matthew!!

Had to watch this twice bc the sites are unbelievably beautiful. Was at many of the same places but was driving, not as much of a chance to soak it all in compared to biking. Wish I had seen this b4 I went, missed many of the back-roads he mentioned. As Mathew stated in another vid, go down some no exit roads, some real treasures there.

Matthew “thank you “ , a remarkable journey that I have enjoyed from my armchair this evening. I thought that the West Coast of Scotland was unbeatable🤔. So pleased to have come across you through this medium , looking forward to enjoying more of the same. Stay safe and thanks again for sharing your adventure’s Matthew.

I remember cycling thro Sweden on my way to Norge, I was thinking, its an aweful long way, I think I might give up but I kept going, I weathered the storm and I got there. The euphoria, the despair, it all goes away, when u get there, actually, its mostly euphoria.

You cycled right by my samboers family house on Hadseloya before you crossed the bridge to Langoya. If you have the time I love the route clockwise round Langoya up to the Queens way by Sto in the north. Cant do everything while cycling the whole length of Norway mind you 😂 Good on ya mate, keep em coming!

They could have invited me in for a cup of tea 😉. I think I will cycle all the way around each Island on Vesterålen one day. A lot of great places to explore with limited traffic and tourists. Have you cycled up there?
@ashleywright39133 жыл бұрын
@@matthewnorway You'd have been welcome although they're more coffee drinkers (heathens) ;) I've only cycled around Hadseløya as I was borrowing a bike. I've borrowed the family wagon and driven some of the others too. Cycling them next. The queen's way walk from Nyksund to Stø is beauuutiful and not so many hikers. Great day hike if you fancied a day off the saddle

I've been inspired by your videos and are planning to do a bikepacking trip next summer in Norway. the route Im planning is from Lofoten to Abisko which is one of my favorite parts of Sweden just to the right of Narvik. the rout I'm planning is going from Lofoten and then I follow this video where I later continue to tromsö and start cycle down towards Narvik and take a left to Sweden. its a total of 853 km. So I wanted to ask you as a beginner ( never bickepacket before) is it realistic for me to cycle 80-110 km a day? ofc I'm going to do smaller rides around where I live and test where I'm comfortable too before this trip. are you
@matthewnorway2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear! I can’t really answer if you can cycle 80-110km a day as I don’t know anything about you. But if the average person cycled a slow 15km an hour it would take less than 6 hours which most people can do on a bike.

I had a beautiful night in Andenes in 2010 watching the midnight sun move around the horizon. The boat to Senja, I wanted was very early in the morning so I decided with the good weather not to try and setup the tent, but just used sleeping mat and bag on the grass. Big mistake, more than dozen mosquito bites on my face made for a miserable start to the day waiting for the boat at exactly the same place yo are moaning in the video :-)
