Looks like a Hew Haw line up, I hope they have some jokes! I love Roy Clark he is a guitar wizard! We used to ride by and look at Roy's house in Tulsa, big metal gates with music notes, huge house, loved it. Roy also had a charity concert with some of the folks on here, my favorite was Stringbean, he used to wear a long shirt and his pants around his knees, torso man style, so funny, great musician. I loved the Hew Haw talent but in 1974 Stringbean got murdered and Budy Rich, Buck Owen's collaborator got killed in a motorcycle accident the show lost some of its luster after that. This looks to be a great lineup, I'm fueling the Way Back Machine on Moonshine tonight!

I witnessed Roy Clark live as a kid at The National Rodeo Finals in OKC. Can’t remember the year but I believe it was in 76. He was the scheduled entertainment for the midway intermission. The biggest take away from that show was how many different instruments he played which surprised me cause I thought he was just a banjo / guitar player. ( Hee Haw show ) His last song that day was Ghost Riders in the Sky which got a standing ovation from the crowd. His talent level was ridiculous. A true American entertainer.

You do realize that countrypolitan and other evolutions of the Nashville Sound (examples of which included Lynn Anderson, as well as Charlie Rich, Glen Campbell, Charley Pride, and others) was still very popular on country radio when this episode originally aired (hence, why Anderson was on this episode, I'm sure) and that a lot of its detractors at the time were saying the same thing about it as you're saying about contemporary country now, right?
@timclary5614
@timclary5614 4 күн бұрын
And you're telling me this because? Even the countrypolitan sound still resembled the roots of country. This crap today sounds like they're trying too hard to have a twang in their voices to sound country. And there's more to country music than just the Nashville sound.
