I just finished the book recently The Creature from Jekyll Island it's a really great book, explaining how and why they made the federal reserve. It's also very interesting when you look at the prices of everything for decades and decades, it's not that things really cost more. It's much more in line with our US dollar is worth less.

I am from that area. I am from a town 30 miles away called Jesup. As soon as I could, I got the hell out of there. The islands, as they are referred to in that area are a huge source of income for the locals. Jekyll, Saint Simons, and Sea Island are all there together. I made this drive daily from Jesup to the islands for work. Yes, the place is weird and so are the locals. It's very much, if you ain't from here don't come here mentality. It is a state owned park so not a whole lot of people live there and it isn’t very big to begin with. I heard this story from someone else that said that the natives of Jekyll were cannibals and did sacrifices on an alter and this is where Rockefeller built his home, directly over the altar. The guides won’t tell you anything about that. It is more obscure info and you’ll have to do a little digging to find this stuff. My family moved from New Jersey to 20 minutes from Jekyll Island back when I was 13 (not giving a specific date lol), so I've always loved the beach. I have been visiting Jekyll island since childhood. My mom just came back from a little trip with her bf last week. I’ve always been interested in dark subjects and mystery. I’ve also had unusual experiences myself on the island (I was just a little girl at the time and I literally wet myself bc of what happened was so unexpected and unsettling). Yet, somehow I never knew this! I knew the Timacua inhabited the island and that the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts and other families established vacation homes there but, never heard about any of this. I’m amazed. Really freaky stuff. I’m especially sensitive about children, being a mother now.
