that's cool to hear about Al's new hens. My Isa's and Astro's started laying at the end of October and they are doing the same thing. 15 hens=15 to 16 eggs daily.

I got my silver laced wyandottes within 2 weeks of Al's chicks mine haven't laid an egg yet. Freeloaders.😂 They make great pets.
@DrtERotinBasstrdАй бұрын
@@caryrhea3974 oh the Isa's and Astro's take a while to start laying, don't get me wrong. Both are very weather hardy birds, cold and hot. Sit on a bucket and they will hop on your lap as far as the pet like part of your comment, lol

Just my daughter and I, my grandson is in Seattle. Meg inspired us, we did our first time of canning pinto and black beans. Was fun. Cecily has never been a fan of turkey so we just had a potato with lots of stuff on it for dinner.

Ben, I had neighbors that were from Cuba. They were so glad they had become American citizens they dug a pit in their yard every roasted a pig overnight. Sure smelled good when it was cooking. Might look up to see how that is done. Thanks for sharing your week with us...be sure to take a look at the excavator Al got...what a great deal. Y'all have a Blessed week.

At the 51:35: mark where Jason mentions the McRib and Ben noted that at one time someone had told him it was rat meat, it reminded me of the 1983 Disney Movie Never Cry Wolf. It's based on a true story about a young and very naïve Canadian biologist, who is dropped off in the Canadian Arctic wilderness to research the caribou population. Two wolves befriend him and he sees that they eat mice not caribou so he gets the idea to see how long he can survive on eating only mice for protein sustenance. The movie is FREE on KZbin and is around 1 hr and 45 minutes long.

The Renaissance Fair issue... yes...... we are down on the Gulf Coast and have a huge Ren fair. It has been so classic and fun and family friendly forever. Tons of local characters and actors and activities and everything super wholesome. We even filmed a music video there years back, so we have the evidence of how many fun things they had haha. It was so so so fun!!! This year it felt like a kink/fetish festival. A ton of half naked college kids and inappropriate vendors. In the past they had one mead tent, but this year that was gone and they had a huge bar tent. Everything seemed totally different, as if it was put on by a comicon type group instead of fair organizers. If our children were older, we would have left, due to the sexual nature of the college kids and the booths. It used to be something to reeeeally look forward to, but we will absolutely not be going back. It was gross....

Ben, check out some north Texas guys they rotisserie baby goats a bunch up that way and probably have a good design. Jason, that idea of looping a rotisserie is great but it needs to come up with Smell a Vision so the aroma is there.

My children, your guys ages, loved Renaissance stuff, my two daughters sewed clothes for a reenactor for years. One thing the vendor/sutler told us early on, there is a family day and stick to it if you want a healthy, safe event to go be part of. This is a college draw in every way possible. The reenactors are mostly this age group and debauchery is not beyond them. Drinking is s big deal and so one day during every festival is family day so it's safe for everyone... no surprises. 😢

Ben. Justin R has this recipe too. He named his cooking show from it. So brining doesn’t matter I guess. The fat does pretty well with flavor and juiciness. Did you trim more fat off the second one?
@ginnysulya9805Ай бұрын
Ben sounds like you were able to save some canned deviled ham! I used to enjoy going to a restaurant in California called Medieval Times, you sat in stands with tables in sections and each section was represented by a knight and they would joust in the arena in front of you while you ate everything with your hands! Also everyone got paper crowns! My boys loved it and it was fun taking family from out of town there! I think it was in Anaheim or Buena Park! Would have loved to see your costumes! I sure the ladies all looked lovely! I was attacked by a Turkey in a petting zoo at the Renaissance Fair in Thousand Oaks! Whenever you mix alcohol and dressing up, people take on crazy personalities definitely not family friendly!

Chicken...point of lay 22 weeks, maximum production 1 egg each 27 hours, key to winter is lights on in the coop...darkness is your enemy...basic rule of thumb is each chicken will lay 360 eggs. The tastiest chicken is end of lay boilers, slow roasted. Most people have forgotten what chicken tastes like due to meat chicken breeds.
