Didn't know that trick for the box and pan brake. I have a smaller on so I'll try that on my next project. Thank you. Learned the hard way about trying to do those spot welds if/when you don't hold both pieces of metal tightly against each other. Lots of nice "burned out holes" !!! ;o( Found those "Roto-Broach" drills work pretty nice for drilling out the spot welds. Gotta be careful because they cut really good so it's easy to drill all the way through. But, they are effective so you don't waste lots of time. Bought one of those "larger" Whitney" punches recently for making plugs for patching holes. Goes up to ?? 7/16" if memory serves. Works great. Make the plug (which comes out slightly dimpled) pick the exact drill size and drill the hole out, put the plug in the hole with solid backing behind it and hammer the plug flat. Doing that makes the dimpled plug grow slightly so it locks itself in the hole all ready to be welded. Love that"'BIG" hole punch you have. Did you make those two plywood bucks both the same size or was the lower one a different size?? They looked the same ?? Dontcha just hate it when you need to do things twice ??? Can't be avoided sometimes so best to "not let it spoil your day" !!! Thanks for all the detailed commentary. Don't have all the professional equipment but it always helps to understand what's going on no matter what method.

I am still here. I am busy right now traveling delivering cars to customers and flying. I have over 100TB of film in the can on many different cars I would love to bring you. Editing takes 1 hour for every minute the audience watches. That's a lot of time for each video. I would love to find an editor. Even a rookie would be good. But if that does come along, winter is fast approaching and my nights will be once again filled with editing for the channel.

Hi Mate, just found your channel, and to date this is the only one of your videos that I have watched. Firstly nice work and wow what a factory that you have. I noticed that you pre stretched the bead lines with a power hammer and pressed the lines in one pass on the Pullmax. I don't have a power hammer, but I do my beads in several passes on the Pullmax. Does it make much difference? I also may have a different method for doing the intersecting bead lines that may interest you. The dolly that you made to hammer out the intersection of the lines will work in your Pullmax as a lower tool piece. If you run the main line at 1/3 depth and clamp the cross dolly at the intersection, you can run the other line through with the dolly sliding on a flat pedestal in the lower tool holder. By increasing the depth and alternating the beads you can get finished work straight of the Pullmax. I also use end profile shape lower tooling in the same way. Hope that this is helpful. I recently gotkk my grandpas 31 model A from my uncle, Grandpa put it on 32 chassis and installed a 51AB with 39 (maybe 37) trans with winters quickchange, My uncle had the body channeled on the frame and ruined this car, is a complete floorpan available for a 31 A ? I know you are a restorer but I want to put this car back to how I remember it as a kid. Glad he did not cut the top and saved the fenders and running boards. You build beautiful cars and love your channel and any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank You.

The floor & in fact the whole car was never as good as the late '31 Slant Town Sedan 160B. There was plenty of leg room in the back because of the 4" drop-down in the rear floor pan. Great car!

I absolutely love your channel - I've learned ALOT already, but I'm not sure where you are going at the high level with this... 99.99999 percent of us don't have a shop like yours with millions of dollars worth of machines, so I'm not sure if this is a commercial for your shop or an educational thing? Can you maybe 'blend' in a 'two approach' to the issues you run into? One approach is how you fix or reproduce the part with unlimited resources/machinery and the other approach would be how the remaining 99.999999 percent might be able to do it? Again, don't stop what you are doing, but maybe have a parallel approach for those mere mortals here....

You know there is rust in the seam of the floor pan. Let's say you don't need to replace the panel under the rear cushion; how do you treat the rust in a way that will ensure the longevity of the restoration?

@@claytoresto I identified that problem with the first car I restored, a 55 Chevy. After some experimentation, I found that I could inject a slurry of phosphoric acid (actually, I use concrete cleaner as it has the correct percentage of phosphoric acid and is dead cheap) and methyl cellulose with a syringe into the seam. It seems to be a self-limiting reaction meaning that the unrusted metal is affected only to the degree that it is etched and ready for paint. The acid/rust reaction leaves what appears to be a carburized layer that is impervious to further rust! The downside is that it is easily removed. Since I can't or don't want to get into the seams, I merely inject gasoline tank liner paint into the seam. I don't restore cars anymore, but I use this same process to restore other rusted projects to excellent effect.

Sounds like a good idea, but I'm having trouble getting the content I have already filmed edited so I can bring it all to you. The other problem is I make about $30 on a video with 15,000 views. Hard to feed my family, pay the mortgage, and put shoes on my kids for that kind of doe.

Yes, I use them. When I need to save both pieces i use one. But the cutting tips do not last long and are way more expensive than the just using the cutting wheel and sacrifice the piece I am discarding anyway.

Maybe because of customer confidentiality you won't or can't explain why, but I am on one hand impressed and on the other flummoxed. @@claytoresto Yes, please film it and also if you do wood working and upholstery work that would be awesome. My background is old Mustangs where there was no wood working and the upholstery work was placing an order for pre-made items and hog-ringing them on. I think alot of the 'old timers' are going to that big swap meet in the sky and their skills are not being passed on. As a result, the vintage restoration hobby is shrinking as a complete restoration by a shade tree 'joe sixpack' sort of guy seems out of reach without someone to mentor them to avoid a clustered mess of a 'restoration'... You are providing that and I thank you for your time - appreciate it. I'm not sure how you would monetize it.

In a previous episode I commented as to whether this will actually be a 1931 Ford when it is done. Got disrespected for that. But check out what happens beginning at 14 minutes into this episode. He goes to a great deal of trouble to fake up snaps on the floor pan. Quoting, "just in case the judges got their flashlight out". Since he admits to wanting to fool "the judges", it is only a short step to misrepresenting the vehicle to prospective buyers. Hopefully, when he is done he will give us an estimate as to how much of this abortion actually came out of Dearborn - 51%?, or less?

How could he “misrepresent “ the vehicle when the entire build has been filmed and put on KZbin ? Just how won’t it be a 1931 Ford? Replacing and fabricating worn out or missing parts is intrinsic to the restoration process. Making it look like nothing was done is bringing it to the next level, which this man does perfectly. It is a little different than building a mustang or charger out of 99% repro body panels and saying it’s an original car.
