Great deep dive into the App. Best I have seen so far. I have 4 MC lights and am looking forward to playing with them. Also, I am hoping that Aputure will just sell the case by itself one day.

Very through as always. Looks like a super neat kit. Well done. I wonder if they sell any sort of frame or rig that you could use to rig these guys into one single light. Seems like the apps grid function could pair nicely with that.

I’m also curious about that. In some Aputure video I saw them stick 4 MCs onto a magnet plate to make it like a 1x1 light panel. they should sell that with the kit!

Fantastic overview! Really liked how you went over nearly everything there is to know for the kit. Mine is on the UPS truck so I’ll get to play with even more light soon.

I've been using Gaff tape and washers from the hardware store. Works great and I can stick them about anywhere. BTW, I saw Aputure do this in their demo video.

Pretty neat kit. Would be interested in seeing or hearing about their use in practical applications. What could they make more convenient on set? What lights in a kit would you be willing to replace with these?

Lighting the inside of a car, particularly a dash. A computer screen. TV effect on someone's face. Interior of a fridge. Underneath kitchen cabinets or inside the over. Mimicking a practical bulb (include the silicon diffuser for realistic look) Cellphone light on a subject's face. Accent lighting in bars and clubs and restaurants. Product lighting, such as backlighting a beer bottle (Andrew Lock showed this in his Aputure MC video) Eye light Broken light fixture effect Lighting effects on practical tools and items such as cars. These lights have uses similar to Quasars, Pavotubes and Andycine R1s. What separates them is their battery life, RGB spectrum and magnetic abilities. I have the MCs and others I listed and they each work in their unique situation.

I actually started using a set of these in place of my litemat 2L. The one downside being you only get a little over 1 hr of max brightness. It’s like having a Lego set of lights. Snap them all on a thin rectangle w/ diffusion to make a wireless litemat. Snap 4 or 5 on the wall and have a Titan tube. Match color with practicals using sidus link and pop one behind a lamp for some push. So many cool options.

@Alexander Daniel i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Wow man, really happy that I stumbled upon your channel. Great content and, a subscriber is born! Hey one thing that you didn't cover (and perhaps it's because it's not possible). I have a multi-light setup that I am really happy with. So one light is at 1 intensity and color space and the others are also dialed in independent. is there anyway to save the entire setup so that as long as I position light 1 where it goes and 2, 3 and 4 respectively that I can just call up a "scene preset" for lack of a better word, hit the button and I am all dialed in where I last left it. I do a lot of repeat setups over time and consistency is important, but a time-consuming thing. This function would help me greatly.

It good to know that these light sync can't handle your frame rate you were capturing. So we can fully use them in certain situations.

Hey Dave, couple questions: • Does the app report back the battery levels or prompt if the linked app is running low on charge? • if the app is closed (not running in the background) or the connected device is shut off, will the lights just continue the sequence if they’re set to loop until the battery runs out? If it the device comes back on or the app is launched, will it “relink” back and pick up from where it last left off? Much thanks! Aputure feedback: Would be good if the products are designed and made to be user replaceable/repairable if they aren’t already. So if a particular part goes bad (E.g. the COB, fans or battery in MC), it doesn’t render the whole unit completely as electronic waste if it fails outside of warranty. Or if there is a worldwide repair support that can take care of such repairs with good turnaround times at an accessible cost. Maybe support can be initiated also via the Sidus app?

Hey Dave, new 873 Electric here. Got accepted back in the spring but due to **Gestures broadly** I have yet to have a single work day, but with filming opening up soon I'm hoping to get a gig soon. However, I have YET to find a reliable source to figure out what my day to day responsibilities will actually be on set aside from vague answers of "cable management" and "lighting". Can you suggest any sources where I can look or view for what I should know on day one to impress those around me and increase my chance of getting callbacks?

did the app allow you to set an array and Cfx on other light like nova or 300d ? ?
