ePower is now seen everywhere. Bikes, lawnmowers, cars. It is so good to see these outboard motors powered by electricity. This will really help reduce pollution. And so much quieter. As long as they find ways to make the charging simple and available.

True. The emergence of ePower technologies and the real need for alternatives to fossil fuels is driving the development of these electric outboard motors. ~TGB

Does this compare well with the Torqeedo Travel? Hoping to get one of these for my square stern canoe.

Never mind. Its designed for only up to 600lb:)

The EP Carry website has a calculator which will estimate speed and distance for a variety of applications. The calc form does limit out at 600 lbs but they do have user examples of much higher loads. EP Carry target market is ship-to-shore use. So perhaps long distance heavy loaded canoes are better suited for other manufacturers? I really like the EP design, small footprint and fast charging. ~TGB

Great product! We're loving our electric outboard so far and so glad this one's on the market too. Now we just need to save up for a conversion to electric on the big boat... 😬

The elephant in the room: Not necessarily a problem for ship to shore, but for larger outboards - With a gas outboard, I get back to the dock with a full battery due to alternator charging. That will always be a problem for electric outboards.

As I understand from EP Carry, they are hyper focussed on ship to shore market. Would tend to agree with you, the broad range of marine power needs will require the e-power contenders to develop products which address each unique need. Not to mention the marine infrastructure to support, for eg, shore powered charging stations. This will come, hopefully sooner than later. ~TGB

Thank you. EP Carry is part of a new breed of manufacturers who are developing practical and affordable electric motors designed specifically for marine use - in this case - the ship to shore dinghy needs.

Need to see how this would work on a pelican bass raider which moves like a little badge but it’s $1600, damn.
@TheGreenBoater2 жыл бұрын
It should work on a Pelican Bass Raider. The Pelican site shows the Bass Raider with a 2.5 HP Gas Merc. The price is competitive with other ePowered outboards. But we should see the prices come down as the market grows and suppliers emerge with competitive offerings.

@@TheGreenBoater i sure hope so. I cannot justify paying that much for a small outboard motor on my budget

I'm attempting a DIY old 2hp gas outboard converted to brushless electric motor and Lithium phosphate batteries im sure i can make one for way less money that this.

Wow. All the power (npi) to you! Wish I had the capability/time to do the same! Send some pix of your project so we can share Thx!

Thank you! Will check some out and perhaps try one! If I find one and it works will try to document and publish on The Green Boater TV.
