@@ourlittlebulgarianadventure Hey ! Question for you Do you think I'll be ok, living there , if i don't speak Bulgarian? Thank you.
@ourlittlebulgarianadventure5 ай бұрын
@@Designer_TopG That's quite a tricky question. A lot depends where you are, are you on your own or with someone who also speaks your language (I assume it's English) and who you get to know. If you are in a large city a lot of people will speak English, especially those under 30. If you have someone with you who also speaks English you may find that you rely on each other more and not pick up Bulgarian as quickly. If you make friends with Bulgarians who also speak English they can help with day to day issues. Sorry I can't be more definite but there are a lot of factors involved. We still don't speak good Bulgarian but we haven't yet faced any issues that have been insurmountable, it can get awkward but there's always a way. Let me know if I can give you any other information, I'm happy to help.

We have very hot summers, last year we topped 40C, and cold winters. Last night the temperature got down to -5C, cold for the middle of March. Spring and Autumn are perfect for us and we also get a lot of sunny days all year round which certainly helps during the winter. We are around 5C cooler than the south but we chose this area because of that, we're not used to really hot weather (yet).

Hello, I am going to buy a house for my summer vacations in Bulgaria. The property i found is very nice with an amasing outdoor space. The price of the property is very cheap under 10k. The house is old but in a great condition near a small town. I am going to have a viewing soon and I was wondering is the price legit for a small cottage house by the danube river??( 8k to be precise)
@ourlittlebulgarianadventure2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it is likely to be the correct price as it is possible to get properties for even less! I assume that so far you have only seen pictures or video online? Depending upon the agent sometimes these can be very old and not reflect the current condition of the property. Just a few pointers for you, hopefully there is something useful here. If you have decided on a village or area do as much research as you can. Check the latest Bulgarian census data to see population decline. There will be some but you can get a feel for the "health" of the village. Have some back up properties to look at if the first one isn't all you want it to be. Check OLX, Facebook selling groups even eBay to find alternative choices. Finally start learning some Bulgarian before you come, in the smaller villages almost nobody over 30 speaks English, this gets frustrating for both your new neighbours and you! Good luck and hopefully you will find your ideal property!

@@ourlittlebulgarianadventure Thank you for your time and information. The property i am going to view is near Ruse. I have few more questions when you have time. First is it easy to find buiders and are there expensive to HIRE? (Altho i think i know the answer to that). Moreover will i need a solicitor for the contracts and If so do you know any.? Do you have any tips regarding contracts what do i need to be aware of. Have a good day.!!! PS I ve heard it is easyer for Europians to buy a property there and I am from Greece originaly..
@ourlittlebulgarianadventure2 жыл бұрын
@@simplejourneys3030 That's a nice area, and close to the Danube! Builders are getting more expensive but still nothing compared to the UK, try asking the mayor for a recommendation. It's in their interest to help you! We don't know any solicitors and we used our estate agent who also offers a lot of useful services to expats. She is in Popovo so I don't know if she covers your area. Let me know if you want her details. If you have a Greek passport, as an EU member country it makes the process much easier.

Hi Mark, thanks for your question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer but I can point you in the right direction to find out. Bulgarian Property Experts is an estate agent who may be able to advise you on what could be available. There is also Alternative Living Bulgaria who may be worth contacting.
