The idea of deburdening your shoulder and ellbow is on principal a very good one, but don't forget to make sure that your breathing feeling is going into your belly and at the same time feel all your wrist movements to be founded in your shoulder - otherwise there is a ceretain danger of cramping your whole shoulder girdle. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about - ha ha ha! I mean it's a good year later now, but I hope you can do something with that (I have to admit) crazy sounding, but well meant advice. 😉🦊

Swedish cope not fast but a good fit between the logs. If you cut a vee down the length of the logs and then fine tune the edges to the line, you will save yourself a lot of time in the bulk waste wood removal when making your cope.

You've likely been given this advise already but when adzing, try starting towards the end with the length of the log in front of you and moving forward, you may find it easier, more controlled and just feels right. The way you were using the gutter adze can however, be quite effective if you are in a hurry and trying to split the wood but it can also be quite uncontrollable and unforgiving when the grain runs the wrong direction. I'm just now getting caught up on your build but loving the progress and the different approach to building.
@TrustinTimber3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I agree, in this case the lines I need have been cut with the chainsaw so I’m just clearing out waist. No risk of running up the grain unless I miss really bad;)

@TrustinTimber3 жыл бұрын
I got these from a store called Lee Vally. www.leevalley.com As for sharpening them. For the most part I'm just really careful with them and only need to touch up with a small diamond stone and strap. The inside stays flat and you sharpen the outside

I Can't figure out if your building a log cabin,, or a pole building.. Looks very time consuming, and 2 logs on one wall none on the other.. Or is this a show & tell project,, with no intension of living there, no plans,, make it up as you go?? Just showing different notches,, tools? Shrink-fit-full scribe the bottom 3 or 4 rows shouldn't take more then 5 or 6 days!! Are they red pine logs or cat spruce?? Build a roof 4 or 6 foot bigger than the cabin you can work in the rain use the ridge beam for lifting,, big tarp,, shade when it's hot, dry tools ,material!! aloha
