I am feeling better but now got to catch up or chores, like the front struts on the car, which I am doing today as it was foggy and cloud base still low.

Great to see an update as always, Algy. Well done on getting a video out despite what sounds like a pretty horrible and painful time. Get well soon! 👍🙂

Sorry to hear you were not too well. I don't know if it was the lighting but it looks as if you have caught the sun a bit. Take care, regards Michael

I managed a flight out to Priory Farm for a fly in, it was lovely and sunny, so I got a bit of a tan (I only need to see a picture of the sun to tan). I am a lot better thanks but now catching up with chores, that need doing as priority one!!!!!

Full marks for achieving what you did, considering your back problem this past week. I think that hinged flap will be a good solution and to my mind at lest, less complicated than the sliding shutter with fewer moving parts. Meanwhile in my scaled hobby I'm stocking up on a few decals and resin & photo etched aftermarket jet exhaust nozzles in 1:72 scale. Far more complicated than it needs to be.

This next week, I will struggle to do much, as I have dampers on my car to replace, guttering to replace (before next-door builds a new garden wall) and a fruit cage. Not too much to do, at least the weather is favorable for relaxing flying. On the model front, I remember a friend building models from vac forms and resin parts, a lot of work but I allowed him to make models others hadn't.

Get Well Soon! In common with many others I'm sure, I very much look forward to your regular videos but do remember, the world won't leave its axis if you go a week without posting a video!

Thank you for your kind remark, I will remember that my videos are not holding the world on axis :-) I don't know about a build video this week but there will be a video of some sort.

It's just some pain but it slows me down when I need to bend to do things. It has ment that I have a load of time critical tasks , so that will impact next week's progress.

@@flyingkub wouldn’t it be nice to switch to another body? Pain can slow anybody down unless you are a spring chicken forever. Maybe you can try to switch between heat and ice packs? That might help a little and of course a little rest
@flyingkub

@@AngelikaJuliana I have to be careful about cold as it can throw my back into spasm but heat packs do help. Rest is no good it just locks up, so I have to keep it moving. The problem is just a little damage to it by collecting metal in it, metal removed but the bone damage remained 🙂
@AngelikaJuliana
@AngelikaJuliana 4 ай бұрын
@@flyingkub I ca relate to that , I had back surgery 8 years ago but no metal. They did the wrong surgery back then and now I have bone rubbing on bone. Therefore I have a 3 inches plate in my neck. The only thing that helps is to keep moving. Since we are Capricorns, we are always moving and working and our bones are not that strong. Hopefully you feel a bit better soon. Don’t worry about the videos, we can all wait. Just take care of yourself first

@@AngelikaJuliana The metal was not put in with surgery but was taken out by surgery. They say the bone could be reconstructed but the chances are it will make no difference but could make things worse so I opted to stay as I am.

I have been around alot of racing vw bugs in my day and when they had oil coolers, they were usually far enough away from any heat source. Primarily placed on top of the buggy with a fiberglass scoop. So why almost encapsulate this oil cooler so close to the bottom of the engine? where the heat of the engine will also be flowing towards the oil cooler. seems to me that wouldn't be doing the oil any justice. I would think it would just heat up the oil even more. I don't know if your just trying to keep everything compact or this would actually work. Is this type of design on other planes as well and that's what you're basing it off or is this of your own design?

Hi I do like your questions, as someone who has been around racing bugs, you have different issues. Right lets think about the heat to start with, the engine oil is going to be the same heat as that in the sump / lower engine so the engine is not going to heat the oil as they start at the same temp. Air is lazy it will not do work if it can get around it (especially hot work), so we have to force it through the oil cooler (bug racers can get away with much bigger heavier oil coolers, so reducing the need to force the air through and use the radiation propeties more). There is little difference in top or bottom mountingan oil cooler as far a heat in the cowl is as heat will come up from cyclinders and engine case but it is easier to bleed the air out if bottom mounted. This is my own design but taking knowledge from other aircraft and a few years working on race car design with F1.

A quick question, I can see what looks like a marking system on your engine bolts, I'm picking to enable faster checking they are still tight. It's a red blob and looks a little like red wax (although I know it won't be). Can you confirm the purpose and what the red stuff is? Cheers 🙂
@flyingkub
@flyingkub 4 ай бұрын
Good spot. I do mention it in an earlier video but it is a stuff called "Torque Seal" it is put on after final tightening and is like a thick paint, that will break up if the nut or bolt moves. It is not as some may think a locking compound, just an indicator. Thank you for watching and asking a good question. 👍
