I love the plane. So much character. Also, I would listen to this gentleman describe a piece of moldy bread.

Love it man! Been flying ultralights since '78. I'm a retired professional pilot and I can say that there's nothing better than low 'n slow in an ultralight or LSA aircraft. Thank you for a great video!

If If I am not mistaken those brakes are avid BB7s . They are a great quality cable mountain bike brake I have them on my bicycle and will be putting them on my double eagle when it is completed! Thanks Joe for showing that confidence in ones abilities and ingenuity is what flying can be about!

Where are you located? I’m in Kentucky and I’m just interested in possibly getting into ultralights. I’m a private pilot of many years but it’s so expensive I’m just not able to rent much anymore since I retired and I’m flying solo most of the time so anyway thank you for posting.

Has anyone ever tried this in a bi-wing version that you know of? I am building from scratch and no plans but the legal eagle is extremely close to what I'm trying to do. The only difference being that I've decided to try to make a biplane version of the style. I can't seem to find any biplane versions of the Legal Eagle, but for that matter, I cant even seem to find one that has had its whole fuselage covered?? Why is this? I would think the drag you could get rid of would be more benefit than the weight savings you get by leaving it open. Someone set me straight on that because I'm thinking the fact that I cant find a single enclosed one means I must be wrong..? One last difference on mine is that I'll be trying a Honda GX670 instead of the VW. I'm actually a longtime VW hobbyist but I just happen to have the Honda engine fall in my lap and with some diff carbs and cam, and stripping it down for weight, I'm banking on being able to get 35hp out of it and it weighing apprx 70lbs. Sorry about writing a book.. I'm done now. haha
