And when is on even cooler 😂. Thank you! That’s why I chose this one so I could have all that solar in the roof.👍🏻

Great install video, cheers. Will be getting one of these for our Unimog 404. I have a Truma in our 811d but this looks like a better unit. Most helpful. Good luck with the rest of your build.

thanks for the video, I've just bought an Knaus Sport epower and the A/A that comes with it, is thisone, and I was a little bit worried by the power consumption, but I can see it's nearly 4A, so with a electric conection will works fine. Thanks again for the info of the power consumption!

I can’t do a real update because I’m not living in the van yet.. still building😅

My main concern with this type of solution is water and dust tightness. I'm looking for a solution for an off-road van (Sprinter), and the idea of moving the centre of gravity from the roof to the boot is very appealing (+weight halved), but these two large holes in the chassis worry me, especially when driving on tracks (deserts/dust) and even worse, when crossing fords or rivers... The owner's manual clearly states "Do not expose the boot air conditioner to water." 🤔 What's more, the project is for a new vehicle and the idea of being destructive (and almost irreversible) on the chassis worries me as to the durability of the system in 10 years' time. Will the air intakes be in the same place if I need to change the equipment? What do you think? (Make sure it's watertight before crossing a river/alternative). Thank you.
@diegosvanАй бұрын
You have a really good point! I didn’t think about that because I’m not going to cross rivers or driving through the desert, probably…🤔 The rooftop a/c could be the best option for an off road rig, besides the heavy weight added on the roof which is a negative point as you said. In my opinion, if the fan is not spinning, it shouldn’t get much dust inside the machine. I would be more concerned about rivers crossing! It’s definitely not water sealed so you’re going to have water not just inside the a/c box but also all around the van floor. Unless you use some kind of sealant. This machine is designed for RVs…

@ thank you for your answer Diego. We’re agree. I’ve heard about another kind of aircon sytem in 2 parts. The intall is in the space above the 2 front seats… but i can’t find anything on internet. Or last idea is a portable system. (You carry it if you need it. Not 365/365, and spare 20kg.) But i do think it’s not as efficient as yours for cooling. Last point : Do you think that instead of drilling a hole in the vehicle's chassis, it would be technically feasible to make a branch to install an air intake on the roof or side? Thanks.
@diegosvan27 күн бұрын
@@pilonthetrails9071 I never heard of that kind of aircon. I think that you could manage to have the two vent on the side but you need to raise the machine so is going to use more space and the advantage of this kind of air con is vanished. On the roof is too long, I think is not going to work properly

13:30 - would the beam not get rusted?
@diegosvanАй бұрын
Considering that the metal is factory painted, the quantity of water when in use is probably a glass per hour and the times that is used are just in a couple of months in summer. I think there is nothing to worry about. BUT after the video I made a bigger hole underneath the first drain. You know if it was something that was working every day all year long then I would made it different.

I have just installed this and find it isn’t that great at aircon, the van remains very warm and it’s only a small ford custom. Would you say you’re happy with the performance?
@diegosvan5 ай бұрын
Yes I am! There are many things to consider when it comes to A/C efficiency. First of all the correct installation, then how much insulation the vehicle has and how many windows there are. Also very important is if the cab is divided or not from the living space and not less important the outside temperature makes a big rule.

Ciao Diego, mi sai dire se la Dometic Freshwell 3000 ha un sistema di controllo simile alla "cugina" Truma Saphir comfort RC che usa la centralina CP plus iNet? Grazie e ti seguo in attesa dei prossimi video.
@diegosvan Жыл бұрын
Ciao!

Be great if you could not use the chinese elevator music so we can actually here how noisy it is but other than that good vid
@diegosvan3 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the feedback! It’s an old video and I didn’t know what I was doing lol. After using it for a while I can say that it’s more noisy the air coming out the vent than the compressor itself.

Io non uso il climatizzatore ma capisco che per qualcuno sia importante. Fa anche da pompa di calore?
@diegosvan6 ай бұрын
Si è pompa di calore, probabilmente in primavera e autunno che c’è ancora parecchio sole userò questa come riscaldamento. Eh quando ci sono 40 gradi all’ombra avere aria fresca per me è una goduria 😂

I want one, but cant understand why its 5x the price of a portable unit. Its 100% the same, but laying flat with holes on the bottom.

I know, it’s just the brand name and also because anything for campervan is more expensive… maybe the Truma is a little cheaper? 🤷🏻♂️

Yes! The only thing is that it’s a bit loud. A layer of sound insulation around the box is something that I want to do in future.

Diego, you have to put aelf gluing Amaflex 19mm UNDER the A/C, also cutting the holes, etc. Only this will make it quieter.

@@diegosvanOk, fine. And if you don't take off the plastic from the gluing part, you can also put it around the A/C, but not closing any air holes. When you did it, please tell me how it worked out. Have a nice day... Regards from Germany.
