Thank you so much for this really informative video. I am going to buy one of these units but wasn’t super confident of my abilities of being able to tackle it on my own. Now I have seen another lady do it (and a fellow qldr too) it’s given me the confidence to have a go. Good to see I need to allow for the space for that ducting to come out and bend too. I’ve only got a tiny van so it should cool it nicely I am hoping

Love the video. Is the aircon cooling the bus well as the weather heats up?
@AGirlADogandABus22 күн бұрын
Yes! I have been using it quite a bit in the last couple of weeks and it works so well!

Great install! And you finished off the ducting nicely. That unit is much easier to install than the split units that are popular in the U.S. Looked like the template made hole alignment a lot simpler too. Quite inspiring, thanks for sharing.

Another good job, well done! I was surprised that the current draw and the solar gain were more or less equal which means that after the initial outlay of the unit the running costs will probably be zero.

I'm not convinced the aircon was running at full power when I tested it. The specs say the effective power consumption is 4.2A which at 240V would put it around 1000W. Mine was only running up to 800 or so. But like I said in the video, it wasn't a particularly hot day. The real test will come next Summer if I'm still stuck in Queensland. Even so, I should be able to match most of it with solar if it's a clear day, and I have 6.9kW of battery storage so should be able to run it for a few hours off grid regardless of the weather, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Fantastic video. Been looking at installing the Saphir. Thats a hell of a noise it makes though. Its supposed to have a night mode which reduced fan noise etc. Have you tried that setting and does it cut down on noise at all. Like you say if its a scorching day youll put up with the noise. Thanks for posting.

That is very good to know and it uses a bit less power as a heater too. The only advice I'd give is that the external vents are dircetly behind the wheel and even though you don't use the AC while driving, mud and rocks and tar will be flung into the fan and other holes. I would be looking to fit some kind of rear facing duct to block the debris. It's all very exciting now, when do you plan to head out?

yes I was thinking about what I could do to better protect the vents. I need to look at options

Dyani Im in WA. I looking for an aircon that will provide comfort in 40° heat. Im not sure where you are located and what temperatures you are using the aircon in. How do you think this one would stand up? I really appreciate all your amazing work 🙏

I'm in SE Qld. We've had temps up to 37C so far this summer and the aircon works well. It's also very humid here.

well done. Does the AC always runs at full power 600W (then off, then on again) or is it possible to scale the power according to the set temperature (higher temperature / less watts per hour) ?
@AGirlADogandABus5 ай бұрын
Hi David, I haven't used the aircon much since I installed it as it's Winter here now, so I'll have to wait until next summer to do a proper test but in the short time that I ran it it looks as though the power consumption will vary depending on how hard the aircon is working. It seemed to fluctuate between 500-800W during my short test after install.

How's Pepper going? I'm still trying to work out how to fill the big hole that Lucy left
@AGirlADogandABus9 ай бұрын
Pepper is going ok. I'm still battling with her anxiety and other issues. I worry about how we will manage living full time in the bus if I can't leave her in doggy daycare sometimes when I work. Working hard this year to get her more socialised and better trained so that is an option for us. Hugs to you regarding Lucy. It's really hard to lose a furry companion.
