I love how you explain each subject and why you think they would make interesting photos. It really gives depth to your compositions. Most POV photowalks i’ve watched have no narrations and I always wonder what goes on in their heads when they take photos

I totally agree. I love my EM5, which I've had since 2018 or so. It's not snappy and it's mysteriously complicated at times, but always inspires me to walk around the "see" photos. I borrowed a 12-100 pro M.Zuiko lens and that really woke this camera up. Slap on good glass, you'll be amazed.

I love your view and have just recently purchased a Olympus om5 as my carry around camera and I too am loving the experience . I love my full frame but hate taking it with me on a daily basis. I am now thinking of getting an OM Systems OM5 to replace my full frame, but I want to see if OM Systems are going to release something new soon?

The only em5 i like. Metal body, titling screen with touch snap. Snappy af (especially wirh a fast lenses) Amazing how they got it right the first time. Still relevant today and can be found cheap cause they made so many em5 successors lol. If mine somehow breaks ill get another one in a heartbeat.

I love my EM5 mark I. Totally agree with you! I have been using it for many years for photos and even videos. I shot a travel video recently as well and was really satisfied with the quality and color rendering paired with the Oly 17mm prime 1.8. Keep up the good work and thanks for the video :)

my E-M5 is from 2012, and still works like a charm. Even the original battery still works, no swelling whatsoever. I recently buy 3rd party battery, since i use the BLN1 battery with my Pen-F as well. Thanks for this guys, keep it up.
@CheapButGoodPhotography5 ай бұрын
And thank you for watching! Also, how you liking that Pen-F? That camera's been on my bucket list for a while now. That, the E-PL6, and the GX85.
@lacsarlacsar35665 ай бұрын
@@CheapButGoodPhotography the Pen-F is just lovely. Everything is even better than the OG EM5, except the fully articulating screen lol. I prefer the em5 tilting screen for street shooting. Pen-F has e-shutter, so it can go to much higher shutter speed, so we can use fast lenses wide open during daytime near the equator. And my favourite feature, the color dial, we could instantly change to BW mode (Mono Profile 2 is my fave) and color mode (Color profile 3, my fave). Its a handsome cam, the built quality is just top notch, and even the shutter sound very therapeutic. Get it when you can.

Thank you! I have a collection of vintage lenses as well. My favorite of them all is my 58mm Helios 44K-4 paired with this em5 and a .7x focal reducer. I think it does a wonderful job of taking portraits.

Ended up in this video when looking for some comparison of this em-5 and its 'mark's evolutions, just because I was thinking on upgrading to om-5 from mine (that seems quite similar to em-5miii). And really makes me want to slowdown and don't get into the rat race of upgrading, for context I already have an awesome camera em-1mii when I need something 'fast paced', so even less of a real need to upgrade. Sure both cameras are 'old', but younger than me. Thanks to make me *focus* back on the important thing of just, take, photos and enjoy this little vintage looking pearl. Nice video, I also loved the walk-around part with your thinking process. Keep going with the content folks

Good point about the 16MP sensor. The Nikon D700 and Fujifilm X-T1 are plenty even today, with the 12MP of the Nikon or 16MP of the Fuji. I much prefer the output of my X-T1 to the Nikon D750 with 24MP, and I have no sense that I'm lacking any MPs on the Fuji. I'm now looking at M43 and 16MP doesn't concern me at all. Edit: I love your way of thinking about why you are capturing something. They aren't snapshots, but thought out images with an idea about nature behind them. Really appreciate how you talked your way through these for all of us. Well done.

Just subscribed after watching this video. I moved from MFT to Sony FF - - but recently found an EM5 (OG) with a PL12-60/3.5-5.6 for $200USD out the door. Couldn't pass that deal up, and totally forgot how much I love Oly bodies. Looking forward to future videos!

I picked this up last year for $275 but you got an amazing deal! I just wish there were more out there about it. Trying to understand a few things about it and the manual is not so great. Changing autofocus modes, for example is not straight forward. Thanks so much!
@CheapButGoodPhotography5 ай бұрын
I agree that the manual isn't so great, nor is the menu system at all user-friendly. Once you get the hang of it, though, the E-M5 is definitely one heck of a camera. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask. And thanks for taking the time to view the video 💚

I've had my EM5 for over five years. And though I'd love to have a new M43 camera, it's still plenty good. I've lately been using it for a massive scanning project-hundreds of street photos from the 60s and 70s-with the Olympus 30mm macro. The files are small but plenty sharp. Better than what I was getting from a service who used a Nikon scanner. If I need to go big, I have Gigapixel AI.

I have literally just bought one of these (the mk2) today. Just waiting for it to turn up.Purely because I am so fed up with swinging my Canon 80d around on little trips out, and holidays etc. Will still use my 80D for certain things (like motorsport and landscape) but aiming to use the Olympus for street walkabouts and jsut an easy carry/2nd set up.
@CheapButGoodPhotography5 ай бұрын
I'm about 90% certain you're going to love it. Hope you paired it with a good lens, too! My 60D is also still on my roster. I use it for my macro stuff. But for the everyday use, my E-M5 gets the nod because of how light the entire kit is.
@GutS7u65 ай бұрын
@@CheapButGoodPhotography just a 14-44 pancake zoom at the moment. Will def be looking to get a couple of primes for it too though. A nice slim 20mm for street stuff sounds lovely.
@MichaelLee-of4mn3 ай бұрын
It is my daily-use camera. I haven't found anything that can perform any better, all things considered. I have also used an old Canon FD 50mm lens on it, where I get quality comparable to a 20MP sensor. Fellow photographers are fooled by those photos, finding them unbelievable.

Got this from an old woman. Her husband was gone and he leave a lot of photostuff. Now I use it often with the Panaleica 25mm 1.4. When I need it super small, I take the bare E-M5 with Panasonic Kit lens 12-35, but I don't like this lens. My E-M5 came with extra grip and battery grip. I looks super cool.
@CheapButGoodPhotography3 ай бұрын
Yo I have a similar story! I got this camera from an old photographer who had some health issues, so he couldn't do photography anymore. I immediately sent him the first photos I took with the camera and told him his gear is in good hands. This is one of the reasons I love these older cameras. The stories and legacies of their previous owners live on with us.

Will it be sufficient enough for bird photography ? is 100-150 usd good price for it ?
@CheapButGoodPhotography5 ай бұрын
That's definitely a good price! I've only tried using manual lenses on it for my bird photography so I can't give you a definite answer with regards to birds in flight. However, I did manage to take some great photos of perched birds using the E-M5. Here's one of them for your reference: instagram.com/p/CsqzQR0xAtI/?img_index=3

I hate the mirror lens on the zv I have. Love the camera images, but it makes it unusable in normal daylight.
@matthieuzglurg60155 ай бұрын
Actually, the first mirrorless camera to have an integrated EVF wasn't the Fuji X-Pro 1 either... if we're talking straight up cameras and not specifically mirrorless cameras, there were a ton of point and shoot or bridge camereas in the 2000s that had some weird crappy EVFs, but they were integrated to the camera, and no through an attachement. If we're talking specifically about mirrorless ILC bodies, then I think the very first one was the Panasonic Lumix G1, very first micro-four thirds body from Lumix released in 2008. On other mounts, the Sony NEX 7 was the first Sony mirrroless on the E mount to have an EVF and it was released in 2010. On the Fujifilm side, the X100 would be released in 2011 and the X-Pro1 that was the very first X mount camera was released in 2012.
