The Most Controversial SKAM Remake... Watching *SKAM FRANCE* For The FIRST TIME

The thing that many people don't take into consideration, is the fact that because Skas France was the first to get the rights for the remake, they had the strictest contract. David (The Producer/Director) wasn't allowed to change basically anything in the original script for the first two seasons whereas the later remakes were. However, for season 3/4 they were allowed to change things up and do what they want and that's why season 3 ended up being one of the best remakes (IMO) Axel and Maxence are extraordinary actors especially considering that this was Maxences' first acting role. Also, they're not afraid to cast a diverse cast. Assa (imane) said that in France, unless the script specifically describes the character as being black, they won't cast a black male/woman for the role and for Imane being black wasn't in the description but they chose her anyways. I truthfully think the bashing this remake gets is unwarranted especially considering that even their new/original seasons are incredibly engaging and fantastic.

Season 3 is the most different, think that’s what people like most about this remake, season 5 with Arthur(Mahdi from the boys squad) was phenomenal and season 6 with the new characters she’s honestly killing it and I’m excited to see what happens next with her storyline

the first two seasons tried really hard to adhere to what the og did so they didn’t have much personality. starting s3 it got a lot bolder and was able to separate itself from the og, which is what made the later seasons so great

I agree about season 6, I just started watching Skam France from season 6 and fell in love with it but thought I should watch the other seasons, to get a better understanding of the "old" characters but I found it hard to get through season 1, which kinda put me of watching the others seasons, it wasn't bad but it just wasn't that interesting ( But I have never really been a fan/less of season 1 and 2 in any remakes or OG).

Alex, I would really, *really* take fan-responses with a *huge* grain of salt when it comes to the Skam-remakes. This is really truely a case of personal opinions and tastes. The level of rivalry between the remake-fandoms is frankly ridiculous, some people act like it's their literal job to convince people how awful their least favorite remake is, and alot of them seem to struggle with the concept of people having different tastes. For example, Druck in general is not my cup of tea, but I would never tell you that you shouldn't watch it because I know that alot of people love it so there's a good chance you will too. Taking Skam France as an example, their style is not everybody's taste, but it also IS alot of people's taste, which is why it won your poll to be the first remake you reacted to. Is Skam France's popularity mainly coming from S3? Yes, that's when it got popular. That's why they got S5 and S6 which alot of people also like. Me personally, I have different opinions about Skam France based on which season we're talking about, and I can see from the comment section that I'm not alone, but here's the thing: That's literally how I feel about every single remake. There's not *one* remake of Skam where I've *really* liked more than 1-2 seasons. The only exceptions are the ones I don't like period. And since I'm aware of the concept of different tastes, I'm not even gonna say what those are, and let you watch these remakes and make up your own mind about them. Please just enjoy the ride and don't let the fandom-rivalry ruin it for you!

People saying season 3 is the only good thing in skam France honestly annoys me. Is it the best season ? imo yes, it's a masterpiece : the acting, the music, the writing, the shots, the chemistry… this season is a gem. But to be honest, I already liked Skam France better than even the og before season 3, because I connected with the characters better. I just love Emma and Daphné for example, where I didn't particularly liked Eva and Vilde, I think they gave the characters a very different vibe which I love (that's why as much as season 1 and 2 are very similar to the OG, it didn't bothered me at all). But the thing is it's very controversial to say that we like a remake better than the original. I just wish people didn't feel the need to attack other remakes in order to highlight their favorite version. Each remake has its specialty (partly due to the different cultures, which is so interesting btw) and it's not that hard to dislike one without saying it's trash. Yes Skam France is my favorite, but I'm still able to comprehend that some people might dislike it because the way it's shot is less realistic (I think we can all agree that their cinematography is incredible though), or more dramatic or for whatever reason, and I still like season 2 of WTFOCK (skam belgium) better than season 2 of skam France, or the og Sana better than Imane (looove her too of course).

i'm sure it wasn't your intention. but labeling this "the most controversial skam remake" is not the smartest idea. first off, its not true. bc both skam italia and skam spain are also popular but get so much hate bc of problematic elements in their seasons/cast. i don't think you can really say one is the most controversial. but the main thing that bothers me is that your title made all the haters feel like they could comment about their hate for the show. a reaction vid should be where fans can go to enjoy the show... reading all this hate is not fun for us. but what's done is done. i enjoyed your reaction and i'm glad you're liking the show so far! i can't wait to see what you think of the later seasons as well as all the other remakes. :)

Keep up your viewing and form your own opinions on any of the remakes you want to watch. Something I always keep in mind is that these shows, starting from OG, were specifically written for each country, culture, and local teen issues (some more relatable than others). And they use the style of storytelling, and nuances of their language, that is typical within each country. For me, that's the best part of these remakes...to learn from and about these different cultures, not to judge or compare. For example, we might think the whole "minute by minute" speech is cute and it might get repeated in other remakes, but it has a very specific and real meaning in Norway that allowed local viewers to connect and understand how that phrase would calm Even. That was a valuable thing to learn, especially since I personally find that particular phrase stressful.

There are 3 Skam remakes that are Controversial: Skam España, because the actress who plays " Isak" said that Pansexuality doesn't exist and is the same as Bisexuality. Skam Italia, because the actress who plays Sana is not a muslim in real life and is white. Skam France because it is popular, and some people don't think it should. That's it.

I really think people like to take Skam France's mistakes and blow them out of proportion. No remake is perfect and of course some things are not gonna be as good as the OG or even other remakes. For me, the characters of this version is what makes it so great. Even in the first 2 seasons where the remake made so few changes, the characters were all their own and they made it so enjoyable (for me, at least)!

My favorite thing about this remake (besides season 5 and 6 because they are a great addition to the Skam Universe) is Emma. I love Eva but since Emma had those few scenes with Arthur in season 5 I adore her. She is some way a more fleshed out character than Eva if we ignore season 1 and 2 for both characters. I think the OG Skam took the whole character perspective thing so serious that our lovely Eva from season 1 suddendly became an undefined person with little personality showing through. But nothing will beat the OG Eva season for me.

As a native French speaker, I really want to love this remake, but my main issue is that it just is not as realistic as the other Skams, especially the OG. The dialogues often feel unnatural, the cinematography is great but takes away the "documentary" vibe that I love so much about Skam, it sometimes lacks depth, and it seems to be written more like a soap than a show that tries to realistically portray what being a teenager is like. I still enjoy it, but I feel like they often do too much to make it dramatic.

I personally love SKAM France....actually, I love all the remakes. They all bring something new/different to the table. Sometimes I think that's the most controversial opinion 😅 My favourite remakes Noora season is SKAM Belgium (WTFock) and SKAM Spain. I'm not usually a fan of Noora/William relationship, but WTFock really made me root for them. And SKAM Spain had an amazing, unexpected take on it. It was so well done...I was so surprised and amazed. It's such an important season. Also, it's interesting that you dislike Imane for the things she does when Sana did the exact same things, like calling Eva/Emma the prettiest, taking her phone and liking all the pictures and shushing Vilde/Daphne and walking away. Sana was just as rude at the beginning, yet you seem so surprised at what Imane is doing.

So happy to see u reacting to SKAM France next which would have been my suggestion after watching the original first. I have watched all of the remakes and I can tell u that the Austin remake is my least favorite and I live 2 hours from that city which was very disappointing. I’m sure u already know that S3 of the OG SKAM (Issac and Evan) is what put it on the map and was the most popular of all the seasons. And yes, the scripts for S1 & 2 r basically the same in all the remakes due to the contract requirements. But S3 was given an open book for the storyline and creativity. I absolutely love the OG SKAM and always will but then came SKAM France S3 which I fell in love with and became obsessed. U said u like the filming creativity so far but u haven’t seen anything yet until u get to S3! I am anxiously awaiting ur reaction ...don’t forget to watch the trailer for S3 first. And don’t read any spoilers!

likely no one wants to hear my opinion but i’m passionate about it so here goes. i’ve always loved skam france and imo its the best remake. i watched it directly after watching skam og and i didn’t think it was any worse than the original. it brought a different feel entirely. my next points are all about S3 - one thing i loves the most about skam france is the fact that france is much more open with people’s natural state and things to talk about than other places. so i appreciated the ability to be incredibly aesthetic and beautiful while showing nudity and talking about things that others would get offended by. i also think that it was an incredible show to watch for there were a lot of just stunnning scenes. things it did differently than the original is what made me appreciate it a lot. also having several poc. for skam in general i loved that they focused on real problems in the world (homosexuality, religion, mental health!) and not just teen drama and that’s what makes it my favourite “teen” show of all time

When it's good it's good, and when it's bad it's the SKAM baguette we love to hate so a lot of people stick around no matter what. I think its mostly seen as 'controversial' because it’s so popular and people sometimes don’t understand that it’s possible for a show to have some really really spectacular seasons and then some seasons that truly aren’t that great and that that doesn’t mean you have to shit on the whole show. It also seems that people don’t understand that a remake being this popular doesn’t actually pose a threat to their own favorite remake.. all these comparisons between the remakes are often toxic and it’s sad that people can’t just appreciate that we’re getting all this content and/or just leave a remake be and move on if they don’t like it. I’m curious to see what you think, especially once we get to the seasons where the production had more freedom :)

piinkskies I agree that ppl shouldn’t shit on the whole remake and specially the actors but i’ve watched most of skam france and I personally couldn’t help comparing it with the og because they basically use the same lines translated to french (ik they couldn’t change a lot bc of the contract and stuff) so I think that’s why some ppl don’t like it as much bc nothing can compare to the original version (and not bc it’s popular). But comparing remakes and fighting about it is kinda silly to me idk

I think all these actors are older than their characters' ages, unlike Skam OG. It feels like watching a typical Hollywood teen show, not eavesdropping on real-life drama. But I really enjoyed Season 3. :D WtFock S3 too! My top 3.

noone talks abt season 4 that had me crying cause i related so much. they couldve done better with going into muslim struggles instead of giving her a love story but still the season had a lot of good moments.
