This video follows our new house build in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Stay tuned as we post other videos following me and Izza managing the construction of our new modern house.
In this episode, we take a look at the entire process of building a fully custom modern staircase and handrail. We hired a great woodworker to construct this no overhang contemporary stairs design. He also did a sleek wooden handrail on the second floor to match the stairs. This wood stairs installation was very complex and required some advanced wood working techniques. We designed a modern wooden staircase with no side stringers so everything had to be perfect. The fact that this was an angled stair riser meant we did not have a front nosing and no overhang so we had to fabricate these to be seamless stairs all the way up. Take a look at this step by step stairs installation and you will see we ended up with a beautiful modern wood stair. We ended up using the wrong stain and these stairs had to be sanded for hours back to bare wood. We are very happy with the end product - it's a huge difference if you see the before and after! Check it out.
