Besides the lack of damage to the plane from an engine fire, why was there no damage to the plane from landing in a random farmers field? I would love to see the statistics on emergency landings of passenger aircraft in random fields and how many planes had structural damage and how many did not. Great episode, as always!!
@Ralph41924 күн бұрын
Nelson lied about landing in a farmer's field. Precautionary landing was made at Delta Utah municipal airport. No damage to aircraft.
@dallenford959223 күн бұрын
Absolutely. Fields aren't great places to land, especially in bigger, heavier aircraft. (Bushplanes are a special breed, built for off-airport landings; most planes won't fare as well.) For example, I YT follow a guy who recently crashed his light sport airplane in a field - under control, but the engine quit due to fuel starvation. Despite following all the proper landing procedures, the airplane required extensive repairs to be airworthy again. While it can be repaired and might not show up in future photos of the plane, such a rebuild, especially on a commercial aircraft (even a small one), would leave a paper trail a mile long. (Heck, even though this guy was the only person in his private non-commercial airplane, and there was no fire, there's an NTSB record!)
@jasonjablonski325223 күн бұрын
@@dallenford9592Exactly.
@jasonjablonski325223 күн бұрын
@Ralph419 That's my point. If you are going to say you landed in a field, then how did the plane not have structural damage? And if by some miracle the field was firm enough to manage a flawless landing, how did the aircraft get removed from the field, since we know it now only had one functional engine? Seems like a professional heart surgeon might think that one through a bit more.

Are you saying you don't believe in Jesus?
@Zeett0924 күн бұрын
@ I’m not Christian but I do think Jesus likely existed historically. However, I’m highly skeptical of the miracle claims as well as the deity claims. Once I read the four gospels in a side by side comparison it’s clear that the miracles became more embellished over time with John portraying the most miracles (John came about the latest). In a similar regard, Nelson’s airplane story grew more miraculous over time. Also, take my biblical comments as an opinion from someone who is definitely not a biblical scholar.
@icecreamladydriver160624 күн бұрын
@@Zeett09 Thanks for the explanation. I am not a biblical scholar either and I have never compared the four gospels side by side but I do read my scriptures. I have found that there is more to read than just the four gospels. I think the old testament prophets add a great deal to confirm Christ as being deity. They were true prophets called by God, unlike what we have today. I have had experiences that are hard for me to say that would have come from anything less than divine interception. On the lighter side, I like the way my son once put it "I know God is real because I spend a lot of time being angry with Him". Not to be disrespectful of your beliefs but I do pray that God be with you.
@Zeett0924 күн бұрын
@ thanks! No disrespect received. I grew up in a very Catholic family with very specific Catholic experiences expressed by my parents. Once I married into another faith (LDS) I realized that spiritual experiences are not unique to Catholicism. My mind was blown as I was raised to believe the Catholic faith was a very unique avenue to miracles. Turns out not so. As for me I have never had any spiritual experiences. But I think I’m in the minority.
