Luke Sutcliffe, did you know the original Beatles bassist was named Stu Sutcliffe? Unfortunately, he passed away just before The Beatles got big. He was Lennon's art school buddy.

The harmonies on Words of Love are magnificent, aren't they? You can hear each Beatle individually, and yet they are seamless together. Only the Beatles sound this sweet❤.

I have a thing for their covers of rock, rockabilly and R&B classics. It always sounds like they are having such a great time.

There are two Carl Perkins' covers on this album. George sings his Everybody's Trying to be My Baby in the next batch of songs.

I read somewhere that Carl Perkins was actually visiting Abbey Road the day the Beatles recorded Honey Don't and was present in the studio for the recording. Imagine recording a song by one of your idols and having them there while you do it!

Definitely inspired by Buddy Holly- took the name Beatles as a Nod to The Crickets… ( but you probably already know that …)

Such a change for them, the entire range of their voices; from a low humming baritone, to a three consecutive elevated vocal chords, a masterpiece.

I love the whole Record but mostly the song "Rock and Roll Music" :) - anyway John is my favorite singer of all time - but Paul and George are also brilliant singers - Ringo always surprised me with his voice in "With a little help from my friends" - super great - I always thought John and Paul and George couldn't have sung it better - I always wait for your next reaction to Beatles Songs - love it :) Thank´s so much for it !!

My favorite here the third one, John's haunting voice, that mysterious sound in the background, the harmonies, everything is top notch. 'Words of Love' very sweet and romantic, those claps and the harmonies the best. 'Honey Don't' catchy and very appropriate for Ringo's voice. Now you're almost coming to an end with this album.

LUKE! You've got to react to the new and final Beatles song, Now And Then. Apparently there is no issue with copyright with reactors and it's brand new. It just seems perfect for you to react to. The video is absolutely fantastic as well. I know you would be so moved by it.

See that's my beat the horse thing . Mike Love/Beach Boys, Mickey Dolenz/Monkees and last and never least, Paul McCartney. Let it rest, he's more for how much business is left in the Beatles, than we love them want to hear them, like the others I mentioned.

Say Hey Luke: My 13 year old friends and I were so inspired by The Beatles in 1963 that we formed a band and learned 'Honey Don't' in 1964. It was the first song we performed onstage and I've played music, recorded, and worked around pop and rock music ever since. Thanks Beatles. And, thanks Luke, for your effervescent series of reactions to the pop kings.

This album is SO warm and relaxed! And their AFFECTION in "Words of Love" is off the charts! And the Carl Perkins guitar tribute throughout the LP at the same time. But one must get the SPIRIT, the PERFORMANCE, with "the Beatles". ALWAYS the energy, the joie de vivre!

Actually, Paul sings lead with John throughout ELT. Paul has the ability to match John so well that it sounds like one voice. The same is true for Eight Days a Week. Paul wrote the song and he and John both sang lead. Their voices sound like one except when Paul goes into the high harmonies. Here is ELT deconstructed. You can clearly hear Paul singing the whole song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2qTY4eejt-GqNk

Hey man, I think you got it mistaken on Every Little Thing: Paul and John are always singing together on the song. Over the verse they sing in unison the same line and over the chorus they harmonize. But Paul's always there

Buddy Holly was a brilliant artist. His band was called "The Crickets." The Beatles got the idea of "Beetles" but with a "a" to include "Beat," from Buddy Holly & "The Crickets." Love "Honey Don't!" Great cover - very fun rockabilly song! I luv the Ringo asks George to "Rock on" for him. Ringo loved Country music as well as rock. "Every little thing" is a nice one but my one of my favorites of The Beatles. I really like the lyrics more than the music on this one. But still great vocals too.

Luke - You are so right about how great all the cover songs they did are. It seems that you didn't do an episode for the Beatles "Long Tall Sally" EP which was released on June 19th, 1964 (and was made up of 3 cover songs and 1 original: "Long Tall Sally", "I Call Your Name", "Slow Down" and "Matchbox"). This EP came out after the "Hard Day's Night" album and before the "Beatles For Sale" album. I hope you can do a reaction for those 4 cover songs. "Long Tall Sally" is one of McCartney's best screaming rocker vocals - "Slow Down" has a great John rocker vocal - "Matchbox" is Ringo singing another Carl Perkins song - and "I Call Your Name" is the lone original sung by John. These songs are all definitely worth a listen.

That Timpany drums tuned to the key of the song being played in the chorus. it fills the gap between the lines very well. George's Rickenbacher 12 string doing the job for the character of the song.

One mistake on the Beatles' otherwise excellent cover of "Honey Don't" is that Ringo sings "I say you will when you won't" When it's actually supposed to be "Say you will when you won't" implying "You say you will when you won't," which makes more sense.

I actually like the Beatles version of "Words of Love" much better than Buddy Holly's original. Of course, it's not unusual for the Fab Four to make their rendition superior to the one they're covering.

I love the Beatles, but their version is no way superior to Buddy's original. It lacks the sincerity and even the guitar riff isn't quite as smooth and flowing as Buddy's. Not a bad version, but no one tops Buddy on his songs.

There is no question that the Beatles was influenced by Buddy Holly and their cover of Words of Love sounds so much like Buddy’s. Paul McCartney and George Harrison I believe wrote Every Little Thing and its funny but during the Get Back in Studio that is the song George Harrison suggested they revisit, which I wish they had I thought it was a great song. Love RIngo but don’t like Honey Don’t song.

These songs are OK, but not anywhere close to the standards of the previous album, and IMO reveal how burned out they were at the time. There's *some* exploration going on in "Every Little Thing", but otherwise these are filler, no killer. BTW, the band Yes recorded a cover of "Every Little Thing" for their 1969 debut that shreds wallpaper -- nothing like the gentle and polite rendition here!

I personally love the cover of Words of Love it shows how much they were influenced by Buddy Holly, also Every Little Thing was written by Paul McCartney and George Harrison and I think this songs was damn good. Don’t care for Honey Don’t.
